How interesting that the officer didn't even know he was being hit until he saw them on the ground. I think assult is ridiculous. If you can be arrested for disrespecting an officer, then he was guilty.

Why would anyone want to be a policeman and put up with the crap and disrespect that police have to put up with? It has to be the most thankless job out there.

Some of them (not all; not most; but some) obviously do it because they get off on the power trip of arresting someone for "assaulting" them with M&Ms.

Those are the same guys you eventually see repeatedly tasing people already on the ground and who spend more time in mandatory meetings with the precinct psychologist than their buddies. You can usually also spot them by the fact that they are often accompanied in public by a wife with bruises from "falls" and black eyes from "household accidents."

How much do you think it will cost the county's taxpayers before this ridiculous charge is dropped?

As for the rest of the police force, I'm sure it's a lot like the reasons why people choose the military. Many want to serve the public and are willing to work horrible hours and sacrifice pay and family to do something that they believe makes a difference for the common good. Some like the authority and privilege that comes with the uniform. And some ended up there because they were smart and capable enough to not be a mall cop but not smart or capable enough to get a better paying, easier job.

This is a clear case of "How dare you show disrespect to an officer"
Although I dont agree with showing disrespect, it shows the unrestricted power these men have over citizens. Thats not right.

All of you blew it but thats ok, most people do not understand. You can not begin to understand the LAW as writtten but each state. The arrest was correct.

Respect starts with ones self, it has to be earned not given, you earn that respect by dressing like a decent human, by being courteous to your fellow man(or at least civil) and not acting like an obnoxious 2 yr. old. If people would just do this to each other respect will always follow.

It is not the weapon of choice but the actions of the man. Take a bag of oranges, pretty safe looking, but wrap them in a towel and you can beat someone to death and leave no external marks. If the man had kept his mouth shut and tended to his own business this would never had happen.

I really hope you're making a joke.

I don't care how many times you try it, you're not going to beat someone to death with an M&M. Even if you wrap it in a big scary towel.

Some things are simply not a weapon. You couldn't CHOKE someone to death on an M&M, much less bludgeon them to death as you seem to be implying.
