Being a student who is getting ready to go to a chinese medicine college I'm glad that more people are seeing acupuncture as a form of healthcare and not some "crazy far east voodoo".
My martial arts teacher, kam lee of orange park, is an acupuncturist and believe me it works. More people should begin to see the powers of traditional chinese medicine. By the way, it's also ALL NATURAL!

I personally felt a major difference after going to an acupuncturist. I could not believe it and I often promote the practice. As for Dr. Winslow, I have visited that office and he is a baby making machine. He has no sympathy for the patient and is very blunt. As a matter of fact, he answered his damn phone while my husband and I sat in front of him discussing our most personal subject. To top it off, it was his wife or girlfriend not some emergency. Yes he does get the girl's pregnant but I think it is all about money. He never even asked how often we had sex! Do you think this might be a first question.

Thank you for your article to showcase another option for women who are dealing with infertility. I think it is important to also let these women know there are other acupuncturists in Jax who specialize in Infertility including Beth Acampora in San Marco (www.HealingJax.com). She is the most compassionate person I have ever met and will work with you through this stressful time. She also works very closely with Dr. Fox on University who is very open to this form of treatment for infertility.

As a person who HATES needles, I would opt for a glasss or two of wine to relax me ....Personally, I think it all has to do with trying too hard sometimes.

Dee Dee - you are right on. Dr. Kevin Winslow is not only rude, but I question his entire practice. After meeting with him to get a second opinion, he scheduled us for ICSI IVF, only to cancel it the following month when we were to begin the prcoess. He told me I was overweight and he would not perform IVF on me because I am heavy. As if he couldn't tell I was overweight when I walked into his office and shook his hand? Nor could he tell when he conducted all sorts of tests on me? His office ended up charging my insurance company thousands of dollars for the tests they conducted to that point. Eventually, he was forced to credit it all back due to his negligence.

I'm currently getting acupuncture treatment for infertility, but was surprised at how much it hurt. Most people say they don't feel anything! I'm not sure how much to put up with in order to get pregnant (trying almost 3 years).

Does it hurt for anyone else??

Well, I don't know about the infertility aspect, but after suffering for years with a bad back, The Hnas at acupuncture Treament Centers on Wells Road and Art Museum Drive got me off 32 pain pills a day. Chien Han wrote the state standards for the modum of treatment and her son and granddaughters are continuing the tradition. Once, I had a bad colonoscopy and they wanted to "manually strip my intestines" to get the air out, I went to Hulan, and after a few needles in my legs and abdoment, I was right as rain, no surgery. I have seen these folks do amazing things, and although other practioners may be good, the Hans have done this for many generations, all the way back to China. They are excellent!
