He really needs to call on our own people to increase production of alternative fuels. Build cars, trucks, busses that run on solar power, not any kind of vegetable oil or fossil fuel. Of course, making a car with nuclear power is out of the question because if there is a collision, lots will be exposed to radiation. Awful!

he is asking them? why doest he demand it? there are other oil rich countries that would love to sell us oil at a lesser cost....chaves would jump at the chance! start drilling off the florida coast and more in alaska as well....we will always be an oil-dependent world, but it needs to be done fairly...and not bending over people without a kiss or lube...i am all for a fair profit for companies..but when our countries economy is in the gutter, and gas prices have doubled since the iraqi war and oil companies try to blame anyone but themselves, it is disgusting....they made record profits..historical profits....and the american economy..especially the lower class and middle class americans are the ones suffering from it, while the oil companies, the opec countries and our own president and his cronies who are in big oil get richer...

I totally agree, why don't we drill off the coast of Florida. China is going to drill of the coast of Cuba. Oh wait! The enviormentalist are afraid that we will spill oil onto the beaches in S Florida. There has been drilling in the Gulf off the coast of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas for years, and not one drop spilled. If its there, drill for it. We have enough in our country to supply us for decades, just need to go and get it. Then watch the price drop like rain. I would use public transit in Jacksonville, but in order for me to go from the Lake Shore neighborhood to downtown, I have to catch a bus at 6 am to be here at 7:45. No way am I getting up that early. I left my job in Mandarin because it was costing me too much to drive.

You all know that I am Mr. Enviornmentalist, so this may shock you, but I do agree that we should and must start drilling off the coast of Florida. I say. let's see if there is any oil off Ponte Vedra, and see how many people want to build their homes there. Let those wealthies watch where that crude comes from for tehir german made SUV's. These area which are falling into the sea? Drill there, and maybe people won't be som keen to build a home on the sand. I also think that if people see what oil drilling is like, they will conserve it as a natural response. Sort of like if you actually watch a cow be slaughtered, you then look at beef differently. You have more respect for it somehow. SO drill away!!! But please leave the natural preserves utnil the very last. Let those areas go as unspoiled for as long as possible.

Hey...I know lets kill all the lawyers and gays. That'd reduce usage of fossil fuels by 60-65% Less paper, less lubricants, just kidding sort of... but we really need to stop the kiss factor when dealing with House of Saud. And Chavez needs to "learn" respect. He's really sitting on a good thing for him and his/this country and this hemisphere. Skulls fulla mush and selfishness seem to have sway in that region. And while I'm here above the clouds on my special edition soapbox,This country nowadays has become a loonybin for handwringers.Fueled by a media that thinks injustice is everywhere real and imagined and must be touted as truth. Trouble is..people can't tell the difference between real news and hollywood hype.Cloony and that ilk have not a clue and are probably paid to say all those off the wall things. Theres a poll for this and a poll for that. Its racist or its a hate crime or its the homosexuals trying to get everyone to think its normal. Believe it or not there really isn't anything new under the sun and gasoline rationing will be in our future.
Do you remember when a leader made a decision for us and it wasn't picked apart like gulls with a strip of bacon. When military action was dictated.finished and returned home without the quagmire element. When sex was behind closed doors and not an industry?Or a political footbal?I don't want my President/Leader kissing ass on a global scale.China,Saudia Arabia,Iran,Europe...anywhere. Teddy Roosevelt had it right when he said: "walk softly but carry a big stick". Now lets get the new wells dug and get America adjusted, retooled and profitable again...Dammit

Let's look a little closer. I have read the problem is not with production, nor the price placed on the oil from its source, nor our demand of gasoline. I have read the problem is two fold. One is the oil companies trembling about the "futures" price of oil, so they "UP" the price to protect their "bottom Line". And the second problem with the price is found with the Wall Street gang that uses a computer to predict that the price of oil needs to go higher so they can raise THEIR "bottom line". Simple as that. Put the blame where it belongs!

We know what god you serve Scott, the evil one Satan. You toy with evil and spout it from your mouth and think it is acceptable and or funny. You are truely oppressed and quite possibly posessed.

I would believe just about anything. I love it frankly!

Now, onto this issue. The Bush family and the Saudi Royal Family have a long standing relationship. Bush makes out like this is some big deal for them to talk, but they rub elbows (and a whole lot more) all the time. After the Bush babies were bailed out by the S&L scandal of the 80's, the Saudi's were the ones who took them in and showed them the ropes of how to squeeze dollars out of the US economy. Remember that the Saudis were the ones to build an INDOOR skiing facility in Dubai! They also built an island off their coast for more land, not for the needy, but for the wealthy. Something is trcikling down to the rest of us, but me thinks it is not Suadi money.

You are dead on about the futures market but it's partly due to the worthless falling $$$$$.

Drilling won't hurt the enviorment, it has been done off the coast of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. I have not in my lifetime, heard of an oil spill due to the rigs breaking away or spilled when its loaded onto tankers. Drill now before China takes it all.
