So, RiversideRob, I'll ask you this question because unlike the other predictable Bush apologists on this thread, you actually put some thought into your answers before being wrong. What do you think Bush should do to the members of his State Department that have conducted negotiations with Iran and North Korea under Bush's direction? Obviously, based on Bush's own statements, his Secretary of State is appeasing terrorist states, under direct orders from Bush. So does Bush need to fire himself for giving direction to appease terrorists, does he fire Sec of State Rice for following the order to appease terrorists, or is Bush once again being purposefully duplicitous for political gain at the expense of national discourse and foreign diplomacy? Once again Phread, You see the big picture. We (America, BOTH parties) have been playing both sides of the fence for a long time. War is big business and we have been making profit ever since the 50's. One day a Dictator is our enemy and then magically they seem to have this wonderful conversion over to our way of thinking (ex. Libya, Pakistan{our dictator}. Countries are only part of our Axis of evil when they aren't playing in Our sandbox. I love the wide eyed Obama/Hillary supporters that think this will all be over and everyone's coming home. Did they pull our troops home after 'Nam, Korea(still on DMZ) or the cold war? NO! Nothing is going to change in this country. The Dance card changes but it's still the same dance.

FIRST, ALL the Intelligence Agencies of ALL the Major Countries of the World: England, France, Germany, Russia, etc.....and OUR OWN Clinton Adm's CIA widely publicized in our National Media and World Press that the Baghdad Psycho had the WMDS. And, Saddam actually did. But they couldn't be found. SECOND: Clinton, and 99% of Congressional Dems yowled and howled for the removal of the Baghdad Monster for over a year. OUR STRATEGIC MID EAST INTERESTS WERE AT STAKE !!! Bush, using his own judgment, agreed with the Dems, and using the IDENTICAL VERBIAGE replete with WMDS invaded Iraq. This, after Saddam violated the provisions of The Surrender Treaty of the Gulf War, AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES....EACH TIME THE VIOLATION HAD THE WAR PENALTY CLAUSE !!!!! BUSH DEFEATED SADDAM'S FIFTH LARGEST ARMY IN THE WORLD IN TWENTY - TWO DAYS !!!!!!! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!!!!!! Bush won a brilliant vistory WITH ZERO, or next to ZERO CASUALTIES !!!!! But, Bush's brilliant victory spelled the DOOM for any chances for the DEMS in the upcoming ELECTIONS !!!!!!!! That wasn't anything that a few hundred American soldiers couldn't handle. Another lefthanded remark by a guy that polarizes, divides and makes everyone think he'll conquer. No substance,no chance...know substance, fat chance!Obama has yet to demonstate wherewithall to be a leader in an increasingly tough world.People are afraid to speak their minds about Obama and the Black vote is singleminded in it's quest to get "one of theirs' elected. I would ask anyone to really think about this election.

We nogetiate with terrorists EVERY day .... it's called the price of oil! Seriously, some countries will negotiate, that is why their interests worldwide are often targets ( i.e. the targeting of unarmed merchant ships in the waters of Africa ). When was the last time an American flagged merchantman was attacked? It doesn't happen often. Why? Because they know that there will be swift retribution awaiting. I applaud our Governments position on non-negotiation. Both parties have said it is the right thing to do. I am a Republican and like a lot of my constituants, do not like how Bush has performed. I don't think it was aimed at Obama, but if his position is to negotiate with terrorists I don't support it.

That a sitting president of the US would use an International platform to take a pot shot at an opposition party member's campaign is about as dumb as it gets! It looks petty and defensive. Just the latest in a presidential career of stupid moves that show George Bush and his staff as a bunch of tasteless, insensitive jerks. The lead jerk will be seen as the biggest dissapointment in the history of the presidency. A man not worthy to be mentioned with names like Washington, Roosevelt, Truman or even George H.G. Bush. Note to my former governor Jeb Bush. Don't even think about it!

Hypothetically speaking, if Bush really WERE referring to Carter and not Obama, it still doesn't reflect well on Bush that he's critisizing the first U.S. President to negotiate anything resembling a relative accord between the Palestinians and the Israelies. I know all the popular opinion about what a failure Carter was and how everything bad that happened in the last 4 years of the 1970s was his fault and not a result of the 8 years of Republican administrations that preceded him. I know that we all overlook the evidence that the reason the hostages remained in Iran for the last year they were in captivity was because the Republican party negotiated concessions for the Aeyatolah on the condition that he hold the hostages until the successful election of a Republican President. I know that we hold Nixon and Ford blameless for laying the groundwork and initiating the period of stagflation that followed the eventual end of the Vietnam war and place the economic crisis of the 70s squarely on the shoulders of a 1 term president that inherited pretty much every single national disaster he got blamed for. All that's fine. You can't change perception, no matter how inaccurate it is, this far down the line about something so ingrained in the American psyche by the Republican spin machine. But even if you buy into the mythology that has built up around Carter's "failed" presidency, you have to admit that Bush trying to pretend that he has any authority to speak about Middle Eastern diplomacy than the man who negotiated the Camp David accords is pretty stupid. The facts are that Carter failed to negotiate the freedom of hostages during a religious revolution that ousted staunch American allies from power for pretty much the sole reason that they were American allies. While Bush failed to stop an attack on U.S. soil that killed over 3,000 American citizens despite being warned about the impending attack a month ahead of time. Then he fired the guy that warned him about the impending attacks. Then he responded by sacrificing another 4.000 in a war of aggression against a country that had nothing to do with the attacks. Then he all but abandoned the military effort against the forces that we knew DID attack us to supply more bodies to the war against the guy who didn't do anything to us. All this lead to the regrouping of terrorist cells in the nation we abandoned and spearheaded recruitment for the terrorist organization that attacked us by sustaining an unjustified presence in the country we invaded without cause. So, despite the fact that Bush really WAS using an inappropriate platform to take jabs at Obama, the excuse that he was actually using inappropriate platform to take jabs at Carter makes him look just as stupid.

Exactly. James Earl Carter won a Nobel Prize for his work promoting peace in the Middle East. Americans may not appriciate his past and continued work in that regard but Internationally, Carter is held in high regard. You do not take a slap at a former president if you are a sitting one. George Bush is certifably nuts!

He was attacking two Americans (doesnt matter which one, they cant get the story right) while he was on Foreign soil! Its like stopping the bully from beating up your lil' brother."You can't pick on my brother only I can." ha ha The right goes nuts when members of the left say shit in other countries.....well? George was mouthing off from 6k miles! Too many folks mistake me for being on the right. I'm an Independent. I think both parties are now a joke.

the nobel peace price lost all credibility when the terrorist jasar arafat was awarded it. it is not surprising when carter who labeled venezuela's election open and free while declaring that they were freer than in the most free country on earth. the UN has been a defunct organization organization for at least 30 yrs. it is extremely antisemitic and has continued to be so under Ban. it needs to be booted out of NYC and placed in a more fitting place. how about Islamabad?

That's just the thing - liberals don't respect the views of conservatives at all. It's not about idiology, or viewpoints....it's about hate. Hate of George Bush, hate of Republicans, hate of America. I'd have more respect for liberals if they would just quit whining and crying about every single thing. The conservatives are no angels either but at least they don't act like whiny children everytime our ELECTED President makes a generic comment like this. Maybe my attitude is intolerant but I have no tolerance for any viewpoint that harms this country or disrespects our President. That goes for both sides of the aisle I might add.

Liberals don't respect the views of conservatives? When exactly did the conservatives come to represent tolerance and understanding? Maybe you're correct that liberals don't agree with conservatives, but we certainly seem to respect conservatives right to have different opinions more than conservatives seem to respect the right of dissent. 96% of talk radio is conservative pundits accusing liberals of destroying the country. How does that translate to liberals being the ideologists that tend toward being whiny? As far as our elected president, you do realize that our current president lost the popular vote in 2000 don't you? And more and more evidence is pointing to the distinct possibility that he lost the 2004 election but gained office due specifically to election tampering in Ohio. I honestly think that voters of either side have a right to be peeved with any president who takes office under such dubious circumstances...twice...and treats both elections as if he'd won by a landslide and has a mandate from the nation to completely disregard Constitutional balance of powers because he "won" two of the closest elections in American history. If telling the truth is whining, I guess I'm a whiner. What do you call lying and complaining about the things you're lying about? Is that whining too or have Republicans invented a new form of annoying verbal conveyance?

Frankly, I do not see any new ideas coming from the conservative that would give anything for a liberal to whine or cry about, with the exception of whining and crying about continuing failed policy the conservative are wanting to keep in perpetual motion.
