As for the news article, Bush wasn't talking about Obama, but it seems that Obama felt like the shoe certainly did fit. It's crazy, but by coming out and defending himself, he actually condemns himself!

To Appease is to satisfy the wants or desires of a threat by giving in to the demands of those who threaten.

To Negotiate is to talk openly about a given situation to find common ground to resolve the situation.

To those people who feel as though negotiation is appeasement, I suggest that you find out why exactly we have a Department of State, and why we pay large sums of payroll for ambassadors who are skilled at avoiding conflict through PEACEFUL NEGOTIATION.

What do you think Bush should do to the members of his State Department that have conducted negotiations with Iran and North Korea under Bush's direction? Obviously, based on Bush's own statements, his Secretary of State is appeasing terrorist states, under direct orders from Bush.
So does Bush need to fire himself for giving direction to appease terrorists, does he fire Sec of State Rice for following the order to appease terrorists, or is Bush once again being purposefully duplicitous for political gain at the expense of national discourse and foreign diplomacy?
