She should not be allowed to have children. There should be some sort of law in place to have her tubes tied.

EXACTLY why babies do not need to have BABIES and where the hell are her parents? Fine job they did with a 15 year old pregnant girl. Sad, sad story. QUIT HAVING BABIES IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY, THE TIME AND THE SKILLS to parent them correclty!!

Did no one else know of this abuse that was occurring? Neighbors, friends, family members? If they knew, they are negligent as well. Unfortunately, this is a case we are made aware of, but this goes every day, every hour, every minute. It breaks my heart.

this is so sad, that a innocent child dies, it does not matter if the parent is black or white or asian, it happens all too often. she should be tried and given the max sentence possible, I know they will not even consider the Dealth Penalty. And she should be barred from all contact with anyone under the age of 35.

Lets save taxpayer dollars and beat her down like she did that innocent baby. Why do 15 yr old brats think they can have kids? The majority of the thugz today come from teen moms with no father figure or many father figures with no morals, and crackhead moms. Today's murderers are a result of crack epidemic we had 20 or so years ago.

what a bloody hag, dropped this kid at 15 and beat him to death by the time she was 17,,,,,,,, I suggest that they keep her in jail for the rest of her natural life and make dang sure the OTHER women know what she did, and if the bleeding hearts get her out make sure she can NEVER give birth to another child ever.

Dear God...why do these teen agers INSIST on keeping these babies? There are so many childless couples desperate to adopt and become parents. I don't think we can prevent teen agers from having intimate relations, but perhaps adpotion should be encouraged more than it is presently.

I could just cry. I have never understood how a Mother could abuse their child and even kill them. Child can definately be trying at times, but they are our gift and blessing. It just breaks my heart this baby had such a violent short life. Where was her parents and why weren't they helping her? It's just so sad!

none of you who have posted these comments know what shantez had to endure in her child hood or short teenage life. we as a people and the system have failed this young lady. when she got pregnant at 14-15 years old where was dcfs? why weren't they investigating how and why she got pregnant? fact: most teen girls that get pregnant early have been molested or abused, and are looking for love in the wrong way. myth: teen girls that get pregnant are hot tale, fast girls. this child did not deserve to die by the hands of his mother so tragicly & senseless i agree. yet the truth of the matter is that we all failed him & his mom. and to sick n tired you are just truley ignorant because this is not a black or white issue. this is an issue that sees no color.

We have to pass tests to drive cars, graduate school and to even get some jobs yet anyone is allowed to have a child. Something needs to change in this country. If you get pregnant you should be required to take classes otherwise there would be consequences. Granted this idea is not fool proof, I know, but we have to do something. No child deserves to be abused much less beaten to death. A 15 year old is ill equipped to take care of them self much less another human. A 15 year old cannot even drive or rent an apartment alone. Who was allowing this treatment to take place? They are just as responsible.

I am confused, please explain to be why it is a DCFS (I assume Department of Children and Family Services) problem and NOT HER PARENTS PROBLEM? Government entitlements are not benefits. They are earned and paid for by contributing into the system and not just expecting a handout in return. |

I think the mother of the child had to be on some kind of drugs, to beat her two years old son unconscious. That's why teen parents should have some kind of help to show young mother what's mother hood is all about...

The only postive to this sad story is that the little boy's organs were harvested and other children in need will recieve them and help save their lives.

WE did not fail him or his mother..her parents failed her and SHE failed the baby! this is a big problem....people want to feel sorry for and make excuses for these scumbags...you liberal hippie..i dont care what she had been thru...she made the choice to get knocked up at 14 years old..she made the choice to abuse this child excessively in his short life....she should be put in a room with a group of parents who cannot convieve a child and who would love to be able to adopt and let them beat her to death like she beat that baby boy....she could have put the baby up for adoption..she could have chosen an abortio n..she could have used birth control...it was all HER choices...now she should get the same fate as that child did....i hope she dies a horrible death and rots in the deepest pit of hell... |

my resonse to you is that it takes a villiage. we are all responseable for our youth. you do agree with child abuse laws, don't you? you would report, wouldn't you? just as we would report abuse, while not being the parent, why would we not help an abused-abuser? after all she is a child also. |
