RoxStar wrote: <quoted text> Sad but true, people claim they cannot move without them; that's correct when you are hooked and going through withdrawl. I used to be one of those people, "I need them" everyone needs them when your hooked. Those who get all mad and meltdown answering to such a post are just showing how addicted they really are. I was hooked at one time for a couple years, script and all. I needed them too, I thought. The mind is a powerful thing people. Oh, so because I took offense to her ignorant comments means I must be an addict. Come on buddy, get a clue. These meds are medically necessary to a great many people who take them. For those who can not regulate their intake or follow doctor's orders this will become a problem known as addiction which has been researched substantially and deemed a disease which can not be helped. Now this is obviously a very controversial subject but your comments and those of some others on here are just so inaccurate and ignorant that I can't help but laugh at them. There will always be a medical neccessity for these meds and it is going to be a sad day for you my friend when you find yourself in excruciating pain and you have to take one of these drugs to alleviate it. Mark my words you will end up eating yours along with that pill, then. Stop embarrassing yourself by making uneducated statements such as those you have posted and start putting your computer to better use and do some research before you start spewing your stupidity again.

Kendrax wrote: I have to admit, it makes me somewhat angry that people blame the drug for the cause of death. The statement of "Oxycontin took my friends life" is infuriating. It wasnt the Oxy that did it. It was your friends misuse of the drug that did it. People make the choice to take these drugs. A good majority of the people take these drugs to relieve their suffering. I am one of those people. Without the medication, my pain is so bad, all I can do is cry. On the medication, I can lead, a some what, pain free life. I take this medication so I can have a life. I've been on them so long, they dont make me "high", or give me a rush. They simply make my pain more tolerable. There are the people who miss treat these drugs. It happens a lot more than people thing. But those people are making the choice to misuse pain killers. They choose to take more than is needed, and they choose to do it over long periods of time. Dont blame the drug, blame your friend for not being responsible. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. There is a medical difference between Opioid Dependent, and an Addict. But if someone dies of an overdose, it's not because of the drug, it's because of that person. Truer words have never been spoken. I would also like to point out that even though someone wakes the concoious decision to abuse a specific med, these people are afflicted with a mental disease for which they need medical intervention. It is the victim of the OD fault but they need some sort of intervention to stop them from their self destructing ways. Many people deal with their addiction, recognize they have a problem and take steps to overcome their disease. They seek medical help or do it on their own but it is not the drug's or the makers of theses drugs or even the Doctors who prescribe it responsibility to monitor the intake and make sure it is being taken responsibly. The responsibility falls into the hands of those who take it and the more people are aware of this and accountability is properly assessed the quicker the epidemic of drug abuse can be addressed. Stop blaming the drugs for the actions of so many, they are not the problem they are the solution.

I take personal offense to all those who feel that these drugs are not medically neccessary. There are so many people who would disagree with that notion, passionatley. Does that mean all of these individuals are addicts? No, of course not. It's time for people to take responsibility for their own actions and for those survivors of addicts who OD to stop blaming everyone else for the actions of their loved ones. Even though those who have Od'ed are not always in their right mind dealing with their addiction, there really is no one else to blame but themselves. Start assessing the blame where it needs to be placed instead of absolving yourselves and the victims. It is always easier to point fingers then to take responsibility for your actions. These drugs are desperately needed by people who have real medical pain, they help millions get back there lives when all else had failed. I suffer from real pain which once kept me from spending quality time with my children and family, these miracle drugs have allowed me to regain my ability to do this and for that I am truly grateful. It is people like those who are always looking to point fingers elsewhere who are really doing all of us a disservice. Grow up and be accountable for your own actions and stop looking to blame others and these miracle drugs for your own misfortune.

When you have had two spine surgeries (both neck and back) and you live every moment in pain that makes people like myself scumbags? Here is a news flash, these meds never took all the pain away but it makes it so I can function. Everything in this world gets abused. Do you know what the two highest death rates of an abused item is from? Food and good ole cigs! I am sorry for those who have lost loved ones to prescribed drugs but this does not mean there are real people who take their meds correct!

Roxis allow me to work, I could live without them, but they help me work (I have carpal tunnel and work on the comp) and allow me to have a positive euphoria even though I have to work alone 18 hours a day. If you have a problem with that then to bad. I choose to take them, when I don't have to work so much I will get off them with Suboxone. It's no bodies business what "drug addicts" do unless they are selling to family members, etc. That is a whole nother issue. If these trailer trash honkeys (I am white too ;)) get their kicks out of oxys, let'em.

Rich wrote: I sure hope my CVS does not run out of Oxycodone. I have a severe back and leg injury and I need them on occasions. I sure hope the suppliers get their act together. Thanks. Rich I suppose the DEA is cracking down on Oxycotin , Oxycodone because of the people that are seeking different doctor's and getting script's from just too many different doctor's , and these people do not relieze that they are making this hard on people that really need this medication ? It's really simple for alot of people too go to different state's it seem's from what I have read for druggies too get this medication , and then go out and sell them too people for 10 15 20 dollars a pill . Those people need too answer too the DEA . And they need too be punished for messing up thing's for people that really need this med for certain thing's as cancer , and chronic pain ... People like the druggie's have just about have ruined things for as said above ( the people that need this medication )...
