Marshall is now in the care of Newfoundland Club of New England Rescue. For current information about Marshall, please go to:
http://www.newfclubne.org/NCNE/rescue.php and scroll down a bit. How anyone could abandon a dog in this condition is beyond me. Trudie Davidson, Trunewf's Rescue, http://www.trunewfsrescue.com |

Thanks for the update Trudie! Newfies even with all the slobber are the cutest!

It is a shame more Newf Rescues don't help with transport. The wife and I are looking for a Newfie recue but most are so far away. I had asked about one from the same place Marshall went, Emanon, and was told there was no way I would be able to adopt him because we live in Tulsa. A lot of rescues will get a transport going where someone takes them so far and they meet up with someone else who takes him so far while the people that are adopting him travel so far.

Linda,
THANK YOU for your wonderful good samaritan help with Marshall, more people should do what you did if situations like that arise. Also, a warm THANK YOU to the Lincoln animal shelter for care they gave to Marshall and to the Newfoundland Club of New England where he should hopefully find his forever home. P.S. To the person in Tulsa looking for a newfie checkout other area rescues or even try to join the NewfMixRescue@yahoogroups.com (many folks in this group can help with transport) We rescue our 3rd newf from SCNC - http://scnc-newfclub.org/ and they helped with transport from Michigan to VA where we live. Thanks, Christina P Bass www.LDCRF.org |

Update on Marshal... my wife spoke with Cathy at NE Newf Rescue yesterday and he is recovering from his 2nd surgery removing the remainder of the tumors. In a couple of weeks we are going to visit him with our two Newfies and see how they all get along. If all goes well we will be adopting him shortly thereafter. Cathy tells us that Marshal is a sweet, calm, loving dog who will get along well with our 2 newfies whom she knows well as this will be our 2nd rescue adoption.... My wife has a 13 year history of taking care of "special needs" Newfies having had 2 of them. She is my hero.
Finally, I want to thank Linda Houle, who is the REAL hero here. She had the concern, and the courage to take the ACTION which saved this sweet dog's life. However it turns out, I will keep you all posted. |

Well, it turns out that Marshal is a very timid dog and is best placed in a home with no other dogs so we won't be able to adopt him. We are very disappointed, but we patiently await the next special needs dog.... unfortunately, there is no end to them.
