Hi , I found Marshall on that Wednesday morning. I was walking my dogs about 9am when a man approached me to warn me of a large dog up the hill that looked like a bear. He was visibly shaken. I immediately went to see if I could help. Marshall ( I called him Newfie) apparently was left to die in the woods. Being an avid animal lover I was not about to let this beautiful, lovable dog die or be alone. I watched him from a distance and when I saw he layed down I ran to bring my dogs home to return and stay with Newfie until help came. His cry could be heard echoing in the trees. I told a few people along the way but they were not interested to help. State Police being called I knew help was on the way. As I returned to the woods I was running up the hill as a park ranger picked me up and we went to Newfie again. I stayed with Newfie til Colleen and assistant came . I truly believed it was over for Newfie. I reinforced to him that he was safe and the angels were on the way. After all i could see he went through I wanted his last words and touch from humans to be of the same unconditional love that he was. He rested his head on me and he was so very thankful... He was trying to reach me to give me a kiss. This fabulous dog has been suffering for a long time. What a relief when I saw that shelter van and I knew Newfie was in great hands. As the girls lovingly loaded him on the soft comforter I exclaimed" I told you the anglels would come. I love you Newfie. I am also very grateful to Dr Finnocchio from the RISPCA. He will get to the bottom of this . Thank you to all who cared so much for Marshall (Newfie) Blessings Linda Houle

linda...you are the angel. thank-you for helping this noblest of all dogs. if anyone will listen, he will tell who did this to him, so they can be brought to justice. there is nothing bad enough that someone can do to his previous owner.

You are a true Newfie angel yourself! People like you help us believe there are truely good people out there despite what we see so often that goes against that belief.

Bless you, Linda -- you are that angel. I cannot fathom what poor Marchall has gone through, but since you found him, he will be cared for -- even if his previous owners would not spare the thought.

Thank goodness there are animal lovers like you out there. I am also owned by a Newf, my second, they are absolutely the best. My heart breaks to think of the pain and what he has gone through. I hope his previous owners can live with there conscious. There is a wonderful Rescue Agency for Newfoundland in Ct. I hope that Marshall could fall into their hands. The prospective owners are thoroughly screened so this could never happen to Marshall again.

Dear Linda, I will reiterate previous posts.. YOU are the angel! God Bless You!!! Having been owned by this magnificent breed for almost 30 years, I cannot fathom how someone can be so heartless as to let so noble a dog suffer. What a horrible, cruel, fate for any animal, let alone such a beautiful creature as a Newfoundland. I am aware that Newfoundland rescue is working with the angels at the shelter.. God Bless all of you!!!

Hey Friends, Update on Newfie(Marshall) I just spoke to the pound and Newfie is doing great so far. They have him on antibiotics , he is eating and is gaining energy. The large tumor on his belly is being removed and the one in his shoulder soon after that. They are waiting for bloodwork results and hopefully we will have great results. He was groomed and no doubt gorgeous. He now knows what love is from the human form. I asked if I can go to see him just to hold his head again. I really cried tears of joy when I received this news,> Very promising. Now if Newfie can just tell us his story. This is where we can learn a lot from dogs. they do not look back. THey live in the present moment and appreciate NOW! Maybe this is the lesson. Love & Gratitude to you all. Angelicform.........Linda

I'm owned by a beautiful one year old newfie and feel like I'm neglecting him if I can't make him home for lunch during the work day. I cannot imagine why or how anyone could do this to their beloved newfie. These are very tough economic times for many people, and most animal shelters in the RI area require large payments to drop animals off (one pound charges $200 to drop off a dog.) I more than understand why the fees are necessary, but I fear that more people will be abandoning animals because of this. I just hope that people get the message that if you're struggling with bills, to call and ask for help being going to such extreme measures. I'm so glad to hear that Marshal is doing well. Thank you, Linda.

Does anyone now what happened to Marshall? Were the tumors benign and removed. My last newfie mix had fatty tumors we had to have removed from time to time. They can get really large but are usually otherwise harmless. Why would someone leave a dog like That. I love dogs and my newfies. I have a 4 yrs old girl now who was very sick when we rescued her and we spen a lot of $$ to make her better. I would have never done that. She is healthy and happy now. We love her. Marshall is so cute. I am saddened that someone would be so cruel. If anyone knows what happened to him, please update us. Thanks Linda wrote: Hi , I found Marshall on that Wednesday morning.
