why are these things happening? mostly due to drugs. so why dont we pull together and try to get drugs off the street. ill tell you the truth that no one wants to really hear, if you have a loved one on drugs why not go against the person provideing the drugs. woonsockets crime is about 99% drug related.if i kill someone yet you know i was on drugs why not charge the person responsible for giveing the drugs also.woonsocket police dont care. our children are dying because joe shmo is to lazy to get a job so he sells drugs to our kids, BUT THATS OK

Well you have no clue what your talking about then either! becuase rhode island is very well known to be very lazy when it comes to solving crimes that involve not so important people to the public! and woonsocket police and there detectives are even more commonly known to do nothing at all!

And you are just another ignorant "Woonsocket Rocket". What do you know? Nothing! You don't even know the good the men and women in your police department have done. Don't you DARE put them down, or ANY member of ANY police force. Because when your uneducated dumb **** gets jumped, or raped, or robbed, you will be right there calling on them for help. You low life slob! I think it's YOU that needs to be wiping the "Kool-Aid" smile off your face, because you are all up in the Kool-Aid, yet you don't even know the flavor.

Ok did i say that all of them are bad! No but how about when alot of cops got fired including the chief because of corruption and drugs and the staties had to take over woonsocket for a month! but you wouldnt know that would you? i know alot of cops some of them being the ones who got fired! some of them being some of the best guys i know! And how about when a friend of mine sister was raped because some fat scumbag couldnt get any! And what did the staties do? NOTHING! But because held a higher rank in the r.i. goverment the charges were dropped! How the hell you gonna let a guy who raped a 21 yo college student go? answer me that!

Yeah uptd it is horrible when it happens, i know many in my new home state of Ga. which there family members have been murdered, all the family and most citizens can put together the truth, and basically pinpoint the killer, but getting a trial or some action seems almost impossible in my small county. We have a thread of so many unsolved murders and crimes started. Some of these crimes go back over 10 yrs, i believe they put them off as long as they can because a murder trial costs alot, this is what i gather from all i have been reading. And in alot of them the law was involved, or responsible for the crime, due to drugs. We had an ex sheriff kill himself a few yrs back due to his involvement in drug and crime corruption when the FBI came to get him. I wish there was something we all could do to make justice prevail for alot of victims. But unfortunately it seems our hands are tied.

Well if i could change things in the U.S. one thing i would change is the court system i think its **** up how a guy can get five years for raping a little girl or if you kill your whole family and you plead insanity you go to a mental home! come on no one can deny that our court system when it come to punishing people is severly messed up!!!

Ok first of all, to all those people saying that we need better parenting and it's their fault all this is happening, screw you! You don't understand the half of it. My brother was murdered due to jealousy because he knew the wrong people. But just because he was involved with the wrong people doesn't make my mother and father bad parents. Don't you think we as a family did everything we could to steer him in the right direction and get him help?? Just before his murder happened he was considering joining the army. So for all you people saying it's the parent's fault, I just want to tell you that your wrong and ignorant for the fact that you think you have to point the finger at someone to make these situations understandable.
A second thing I'd like to address is to the person who said that the people who get shot deserved it because they're scumbags. My brother was Brandon Smith and he didn't deserve any of this. He may have known the wrong people but he had a big heart and big dreams. He was far from beign a scumbag and I think that people who are making these comments really need to stop and think before they speak because there are family and friends who are affected by your ignorance.
Lastly, I'd like to address Nicole from Woonsocket. Thank you for taking Brandon's family and friends into consideration and sticking up for him. It's nice to know that other people are out there that care for him and what's being said as much as me. So thank you

What I want to know is why is everyone yelling each other about this? We can't blame the victim, we can't blame the entire town of Woonsocket, and we can't blame the police. It is a combination of family, the community, and individual responsibility. Most of us are somewhat outsiders to what happened and are only causing more damage by trying to find one person or group who is responsible. It is a horrible thing to say that it is Brandon's fault and to give no respect to the grieving family of a 17 year old, but you can't deny that it in an accident that should be overlooked. I don't live in Woonsocket but I live in a bordering town, and knowing some Woonsocket residents I won't stereotype the entire city, nor say that it is an issue that can be solved by simply moving away or blaming others. Grow up people for everyone's sake.
