DTV switch, one week away, ready

I find the banner about digital converion running across the programs you show, truly annoying. Not only that, I have a digital conversion box and I do not receive your digital channel thirteen.

I thought the conversion was delayed until June 12, 2009? Is WPRI going to convert early?

I concur with you from Narragansett, they are annoying. If you aren't ready for it by now, chance are you never will. Nate; The Providence Market decided to keep to the original shut-off date

As for the no SD-64/ DT-13 (WNAC 64), I posted a question about that problem months ago on the engadget fourms. Here's what the others had to say

"WFXT-DT [fox 25] has been operating at low power ever since they signed on. They have an application in with the FCC to move their antenna up to the top of their tower (it's currently on the side) and boost from 78 kW to 950 kW. That will probably solve your issue.

WNAC-DT is at 1000 kW, but is directional to protect WEDN analog in Connecticut, which harms their signal in that direction and some others. If you can see WPRI-DT now, after next year you should be able to see WNAC-DT as well, since they'll have almost identical transmitters and whatnot (even side-by-side channel-wise, 12 and 13). Again, this assumes the FCC grants the applications they've filed."

I understand that you must notify folks about the upcoming switch to digital but everynight when I am trying to watch a show the message of the switch runs over and over again-not at the bottom of the screen but right across the middle, ruining the show! Do you have to run this message like this, so often, as well as all the commericals informing us about it? Is there really anyone left who does not know about the switch? Thank you for your consideration.

Out here in Mansfield, I could get a snowy but quite watchable analog WPRI channel 12, but the digital WPRI 12 is unwatchable. Even with a $30 amplified antenna, it will work for a little while, then (right as a show gets suspenseful), the signal will crap out.

Will WPRI's signal strength increase on February 17 or should I just look for NCIS and Criminal Minds on cbs.com and give up on broadcast TV entirely?

I have made the switch to digital tv on my over the air tv sets. Unfortunately, I can not receive 12.1 so, I will not be watching any CBS shows after Feb. 17. Why do i get all the other local stations but not yours?

Will WPRI-DT offer any good subchannels like other local stations are doing?

It appears that WPRI's signal strength has increased, or their engineers have tweaked the broadcast somehow, but I now get good signal strength with my same old antenna.

It would have been nice if WPRI had explained this ahead of time rather than have viewers scramble to get reception only to discover the reception would be fine after the switch date.
