How long have people been warned about the effects of smoking? I'm sorry this woman lost her husband, but if you choose to smoke, then you better be prepared to deal with the consequences. I don't think suing the tobacco company is the right thing to do.

Oh lets see now, the government forced the companies to put the warning on the packs in about the mid 60s. Then for another 30 years or so the companies kept telling the general public that there was no medical proof that smoking caused cancer. Then it was discovered that they have known since the 50s that smoking caused cancer, in other words they lied about it for about 40 years. They not only should have their pants sued off they should be locked up.

And what ever happened to common sense and personal accountability?

This woman ought to be taken out and shot. Nothing but blood money from her husbands death. What? Did the insurance money run out?

But that's the way this country is heading. We all want other people to pay our way, make us rich so we don't have to be accountable anymore.

Sure, I could quit my job, go on welfare and live off the government. But that's not what AMERICANS do. Man, I am getting so sick of this.

Anyone with an ounce of gray matter doesn't need the government or the tobacco industry to tell them smoking is bad for you.

No one forced that man to smoke. Yes, it is sad he had to suffer with cancer, but even my nine year old knows that smoking can cause cancer.

It is not a hidden secret.

People, once again, need to stop blaming others for their own misfortunes.

I agree with you. But where do you draw the line? My first reaction was "oh please the smoker has responsibility". But then it's hard to ignore the MILLIONS of dollars the cig companies make off of people every single day on a product they KNOW is addictive and causes many serious health problems.

What other product known to cause cancer is allowed to stay on the market? Ethically it is difficult to defend a company that has knowingly done so much wrong and CONTINUES to.

People need to take responsibility for their own actions. If people quit smoking (like I did) then the tobacco companies would go out of business. Supply and demand...that is what this country runs on. Try banning tobacco and see how quickly organized crime jumps on it like they did during prohibition and like they do now with drugs. Without the demand, there would be no supply. We have seen the enemy and he is us!

I hear what you're saying. But we need to be more responsible for our own actions and quite looking to blame others.

Nasal spray can be addictive too. Pepsi, Coke ... not at all good for you, they spend millions on advertising. As a chain soda-drinker can I sue Pepsi because my cholesterol is through the roof and it caused me to have a heart attack?

The highest posted speed limit I am aware of is 75 mph yet auto manufacturers continue to build cars that are capable of going much faster.

Are the auto manufacturers liable if some one has an accident while exceeding the speed limit?

My brother and I are fixing to sue 7-11 for making slurpees. My brother is overweight and has other health issues associated with his slurpee addiction.

Someone needs to be held to account. How is my brother supposed to drive past the 7-11 and not stop in for a 100oz frozen beverage?

Processed meat lovers...the time has come to cash in.

Remember when a certain company used kids to poison the people?

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Now that it is known that processed meats cause lung and many other cancers in LARGE numbers...when can the lawsuits begin? After all...they were using "the children"....while colon cancer was rampant.

The poor meat addicts never had a chance...given the power of the meat industries constant bombardment with lies on TV...justice must be served.

Did the tobacco company hold a gun to his head and say smoke or else. I don't think so. Our sue happy system is a shame.
