1 I feel he should resign as president, his conduct is unprofessional and inappropriate. If remains president he is only gving bad press for the University and the students. I hope some of the Drunk Driver support groups like Mothers Against Drunk Drivers will rally to have him receive a stiff penalty for his conduct. No matter how he tries to sugar coat the facts he is an alcoholic that needs to be punished for his indiscretion. Just think he could have injured or killed someone while he was driving intoxicated. The police officer that pulled him over, should be given a medal for taking that alcoholic off the streets. Hey Mr. President do us all a favor and resign. Signed, A Davenport University Student that is paying to much tuition to be embarassed by your unlawful behavior!!!! |

1 He lied. this is the sad part. He tried to blame his drinking on his diabetic condition. He is teaching the students at DU that it's OK to drink, drive and then think of a good excuse when you get caught by the police. This is my beef with him - that he lied. |

Who really cares about this guy. He shouldnt get fired. He is not special, and I have no idea why this is even news. The courts will deal with him and that will be the end of it. He wont be able to get another job if he is fired---cause he is from davenport

1 My,my.Aren't we clever when we get our knickers in a bunch. Perhaps that reference comes to you so handily because your own head is in a like position. This is only a news story because of this man's position otherwise the media would be publishing a lenghty list everyday of the people pulled over in Kent County barely over the limit. Why don't you come up for some air and a couple of Midol? |

1 As an aside, take a look at all of the comments from people who think that GRPS teachers should be held to a higher standard and not strike. Is this man not an educator who should also be held to a higher standard? |

Good morning. I am woodsprite. I am the woman that Mr. Flechsig ran off the road (one of them). I followed him, made contac twith him and called 911. I accept Mr. Flechsig's apology...as his behavior and poor judgment DID have a very direct effect on me. I could have been killed that afternoon. Others too. I know nothing of Mr. Flechsig as a university president however, I do feel he has faced embarrassment and public humiliation...what he does with these lessons is up to him. I am not to judge (I have done plenty of that in my posts on this subject since the incident)...however, I have vented...I am alive...I will let our justice system do the rest. Mr. Flechsig I accept your apology. I truly hope your apology is heartfelt and that a very valuable lesson is learned.

2 He was .01 over the limit TWO HOURS LATER. He REFUSED the breathalyzer and REFUSED not one, but TWO blood tests at the jail, forcing officers to get a warrant to draw his blood. My beef with him is that he intentionally created that delay in the hopes that his alcohol level would drop, and then LIED about it. And CONTINUED lying about it until the blood test results forced him to issue his "deep regrets." Sorry, not buying it. |

1 The issue Who Cares, is not that it registered at .01. We all know that it was much higher than that. He refused to take the tests at the sight of his arrested and the police were not able to administer the blood test well over 2 hours after the incident. This gave plenty of time for his blood alcohol to go down. He did this deliberately. And if you haven't figured it out...this man is the leader of an educational institution. He should be held to a higher standard than any other corporate mongrel. |

How ignorant. Flex sig has nothing to do with the meaning of Flechsig...look it up. I hope you are never the nurse that puts anything up my butt...5670 |

1 He was .01 over the limit about three hours after he was arrested when he finally popped the blood. |

Okay we all know - time to move on. He was drunk. Period. No argument. He broke the law. Enough. |

Why is it that drunk drivers get better treatment after being caught than that guy living on the street cause he lost his house after he lost his job?
Probation? He's going to get probation for not even accepting responsibility till after the test results came in. Enough lawyer tricks and time for those who are "responsible adults" to stand up and take their medicine. |
