School fight spills over to staff

I understand that if not for the quick and professional job done by the Sheriffs deputies, the situation could have had a much worse outcome. Let's hear it for our Sheriffs deputies, and another job well done!!!

I am so outraged at this whole ordeal, I heard this over the scanner and I tell you what I don't care what kid did this, you should not only have the book thrown at you, I think you should be in a prison with the worst criminals alive. I commend the sheriff,state police and all surrounds who helped these teachers out, I am so glad my child wasn't one of those who did that, because before the cops took him he would be having his **** beat by me the parent,then turned over to police. This sort of thing is NOT acceptable in any shape or form!! I am sorry if I offend anyone, but this just made me so mad, meds or troubled kids, regardless have some respect for teachers and elders!!

Okay for one, if I'm right, an emotionally impared school is kind of like an alternative school. I went to an alternative school and i was never on meds. So maybe it wasn't that. NOT saying it's okay because it definitly isn't, but making that type of steryotype is very wrong. I hope the teachers recover okay. I also agree with Hot Rod. no matter who it is they should get time definitly.

Sounds like you have anger management issues! Were you every beaten or dropped as a child? Hopefully law enforcement will catch up with you for child abuse!

Emotionally challenged kids have mental issues. Typically (but not always) they need meds to keep things pointing closer to the norm. Somehow I don't think an alternative school is the same. Do you have mental challenges?

Have you ever had a child who was bi-polar or autistic, or any other emotionally impaired problems? I'm assuming probably not. What these kids did is HORRIBLE...however, there are some kids who honestly cannot help themselves. I worked with a girl who's son was mentally unstable...and while she was driving he would pull her hair and kick and punch her...she would almost get into an accident. She came to work all the time with bruises...it was very sad. She had NO control when he would flip out. She is a single mother and no one ever offers her any support. So before you judge any kid, know the circumstances first. I'm just happy the Staff is safe!

I know that H.O. Steel Alternative used to have students who were either pregnant or couldn't stand the daily activities of high school. Many were high school drop outs and going to H.O. Steele to get their GEDS. However, they recently changed everything there, so perhaps now they deal with emotionally impaired students...I'm not really sure. In any case, it's a very sad story. I'm glad the Staff members are ok...you hear of too many kids bringing guns to school these days and shooting the place up...it's scary!

These kids sound like some of my students here in GRPS. Do people realize that to meet AYP these students are required to pass the same tests as the A students? EVERYONE must pass the tests. This is the issue with No Child Left Behind. It leaves many behind.

By the way, very mature joking about the meds. Some things are very difficult to treat concurrently, so if a person has ADHD and is Bi-Polar, it is going to be nearly impossible to treat both. Make all the jokes that you want. These are the types of students that I work with, and for the most part, they should remain in school, not jail. Jail only teaches them to become better at being worse.

My child has bio polar/oppositional disorder. I have been getting him help since he was 3 years old. Meds, pinerest, threapy, talking to teachers so they know how to deal with him. He is really a loving kid. But he also can be hard to deal with. Unless you live with a kid like this, you will never know and should never assume you have the answers.My child is only 10.He prays everynight for god to help him. He can't control himself as fast as a "normal" kid....mental illness is a sickness. I know that I was meant to be his mom and not the person making these comments.I am sadden that there are so many people out there that view these kids as trouble...not ill.

I most definitely agree with you. I have 2 children with ADHD. I always talk to the teachers at the beginning of the school year and let them know about their "issues" beforehand. I also ask them to let me know if they ever have any problems or concerns to please let me know. Most people don't understand kids who are on medications, and most people like to judge the parents who put their children on the medications. Unless people who have ever dealt with or had children with problems, they have NO clue as to what parents and teachers go through!

Is there also no such thing as a cognitive impairment or an emotional impairment? As far as that goes it is likely that the heart attack that killed my grandpa, the chromosomal disorder that led to my brothers' retardation and early death, as well as the lump that was removed from my mom's breast and the subsequent radiation treatments.... these things were also the result of a conspiracy of a doctor's over-active imagination. Wouldn't the world be a better place redfist, if we all joined you in your reality?

It's incidents like that that anger me when people say that teachers make too much. This is a perfect example of how teachers are not paid enough!

This is exactly why teachers SHOULD have guns in the classroom. If you put a hole in the leader right away, the rest will fall in line.

You all have to realize that the GR teacher is a leftist liberal. Just like the ones that have created the mess that our public schools and students are in. It was their thinking that kids / students have the same rights as parents and adults. Thereby creating the lack of disapline and obedience. Since there can be no more corprl punishment; there are no consequences that will detere the delinquents from doing what they want. After all if your Mom or Dad slap your foul mouth just tell the teacher and he/she will call cps for you. So Gr teach stop your btchn and teach or change jobs.
