Fathr fathers Daughter's Children

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse:

AMSTETTEN, Austria - Hospital officials say family members victimized by an Austrian man who imprisoned his daughter for 24 years and fathered seven children with her now have met.
Authorities say the daughter, her mother and most of the children that suspect Josef Fritzl fathered through incest met each other Sunday.
The reunion took place at a clinic where they are getting psychiatric treatment and counseling.
Three of the children lived with the grandparents, but the other three never saw sunlight for years until they were freed this past weekend.
Officials said one of the children is hospitalized in another location and was not part of Sunday's reunion.

AMSTETTEN, Austria (AP)— Authorities say DNA tests confirm that the Austrian man who kept his daughter captive for 24 years is the biological father of her children.
Police say Josef Fritzl told investigators that one of the seven children died in infancy and that he tossed the body in a furnace.
Three of the surviving children lived with the grandparents and were registered with authorities.
But authorities say the other three never saw sunlight for years until they were freed this past weekend.
Investigators say they believe Fritzl's wife was unaware that the daughter she believed ran away to join a religious cult in 1984 was living as a prisoner in the basement.

I would know if there was a secret room in my basement...I just don't understand the wife not knowing something. And the 3 kids with Grandparents...where did the Grandparents think the kids came from...

This story is very sick.. I can't imagine what the daughter went thru for 24 years, it just breaks my heart.

How can you NOT know that one of your own children is with in feet away you?

What a weird story. My husband was telling me about it. He said he heard that the three children that were living with them the man claimed were dropped off on the doorstep so the wife wouldn't get suspicious. I think the wife had to know. But then my husband said he also heard that the basement was soundproof too so I guess it's hard to tell. I guess she didn't go to her basement ever.

She was probably just happy the old coot wasn't buggering her all of the time.

Another miserable, crazy, sick, story. This poor woman being kept a prisoner in the basement and her mother not knowing. I don't buy it for a minute.

how did she eat??? did the mother ever wonder why her husband brought food to the basement? or hear her scream as she was bareing his children? I wonder if this home is a branch of the cult that was raided!
