Too bad he's not a better shot.

"Battle Creek police commander Jackie Hampton told 24 Hour News 8 the officer did not use his service revolver in the shooting."

Tell me what police dept is still using 'revolvers' as their weapon of choice?

Yep, just as justified as you would find it if they broke into YOUR house. Get over yourself

i agree revolvers are obsolete in law enforcement. this shows that owning a firearm and knowing how to use it can help protect your family and your assets from those that would like to harm you and steal your stuff. too bad he aimed too low

I hope the persons in Blue take this a little tongue-in-cheek, but what is it with cops and marksmanship? As a former Marine rifle/pistol instructor I can tell you from experience...most cops don't shoot for s#@t :-)

On a serious note, there can be tactical, moral, and legal implications of 'shooting to wound'. If you don't feel threatened enough to apply deadly force, then maybe you should not fire. As for warning shots, always give two...one thru the heart and one thru the lungs...

Oh and 'Groan'...I think jeepie was being sardonic..

I would have went for the head, as is sounds like this bandit didn't have any respect for someone elses private space in the world. He got less than he deserved. I think the law should change, if someone is violating your rights/space such as your home.......shoot then answer questions.........I bet the crimes like this would take a dramatic decrease.

I don't care if the police officer used his service revolver or not~too bad he didn't shoot all three of them~I think it's high time we turn the tables on the criminals out there. The police pick them up and the courts let them out...I'm tired of the crime rate going up and up. Part of the problem is the perpetrators get a slap on the wrist and are out there right back at it. We should be able to defend our homes and families. Bravo to the police officer. Good job.

I agree with "concerned citizen." If you want to take the risk of breaking into someone's home then be prepared to lose your life. There are actions and consequences to actions especially when it is a crime.

Is it a posibility that the suspect was climbing out of the basement window he was shot in, and only presented the officer with a booty shot?! Also, I think that several Dept. still use Revolvers.....reliability..... .....no moving parts, springs and all the fun things in a semi....just a thought

Do'es this mean If someone tried to break in my house, but did not enter. I can shoot them from my basement window? Were they pointing a gun at him? Was his life in danger?
