I feel bad for the family he left behind, and the mess and pain he left them.

I do NOT feel bad for the position Kyle put himself in.

This past week has been unbelievable, with David murdered in broad daylight and Kyle killing himself. Two families left to pick up the pieces. Very difficult task.

You play the gang game and you eventually die.

It's not rocket science, stand on a railroad track long enough and eventally a train will hit you.

I don't agree with what the kid did but there is no need to blame his mother. He knew what he was doing when he did it. It's just a shame that all of our young people keep killing each other off. It's a sad time.

You know what it is people like you that still lives in the past on the stupid racist stuff. You should be ashamed of yourself and just to let you know you are going straight to hell with him.

I'd say his mother (and father) share some blame. Kids need responsible parents that raise them the appropriate way.

I agree - to a point. This man was an adult, and he made his choices. He chose to shoot the 16 year old kid, he chose to join a gang, and he chose to take his life.

At some point in time, as a parent you must cut the apron strings. You have to let them go to make their own choices and hope and pray they actually paid attention to the lessons and instructions you gave them, and that they make the correct choices.

ps The bible also "sead", "Thou shalt not kill."

Guess Kyle wasn't a big fan of the bible.

I just think to myself why?
I feel sorry for both families, they didn't ask for this.
I don't understand the whole gang thing.
What would anger a person so much that he would drive through a neighborhood, pull out a gun and shoot into a group of people? How could any reason or perceived slight cause this response?
How then when having to answer for this action could the only response be to end his own life?
Shorty is right about one thing. I never met Kyle but I never thought this was possible.

Excellent point! Never fails does it..how often thugs who are in the process of turning their life around...die....(Guess the moral here is ...if you want to live....don't your life around.)

I do not think officer powell is an officer at all and I do believe he is getting just what he wants by all the responses he is getting here. I say we ignore him now.

I'd like to hear more about the families and how they are doing?

Forget powell...he will get his. Karma.

Kids can still make the wrong decisions, despite their upbringing. Kyle was raised at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, which is an extremely wonderful church here in the GR area with great leadership and a wonderful, well known pastor (Rev. Clifton Rhodes, Jr). I am sure you've heard his name time and again.

I go to a different church and am of a different faith, but still........as well, Kyle's father is a deacon in that church, so pray tell me, kids can still make poor decisions no matter their upbringing.

A friend of mine who is the senior pastor of a church has a son who got involved in drugs and was heavily involved in drugs for many years. It wasn't that pastor's fault this happened - his son made poor choices for himself. So please, do not blame the Keenan parents for the decisions Kyle made himself.

Have you forgotten about Columbine? Kids can have the most supportive parents in the world and still mess up. These people have lost so much already, why take what little bit of dignity they left?
