I believe many people aren't very familiar with the "work place", or they would know that this is Normally how the systems work. Blah, blah, blah...did you know Michigan is an at will employment state? If the work place is not safe, then quit...or call OSHA. Trust me, OSHA is more than happy to drop by.

Fact: Hilo drivers at the Delphi plant in Coopersville were starting at $18/hr. but most were making in the high 20's. Now that that is explained, can you please make a point with facts? Either that or just go back to the unemployment line. Ya, high school drop out. That only goes to prove you are willing to say whatever you want to believe is fact without knowing it for true. I wouldn't say you're inaccurate about the hilo drivers at Coopershole Delphi making in the high $20s per hr. That's not the $30/hr you were saying - "I am sorry you are not going to get paid $30/hr. to drive your hilo anymore." now is it. Who's the high school drop out if you can't tell the difference between the high $20/hr and the $30/hr you asserted.

I am surprised that the vote is going the wy it is. With all the conservative holy rollers in the Grand Rapids area I would think they would like to eliminate all unions and pay the workers minumum wage or less.

That's the nature of the republican philosophy, one class of people who own or control big business, and a peasant class that they deem "deserve" to be poor and exploited. And nothing in between.

it is easy to fire a union employee. just follow the contract rules to the letter and he/she is gone and no arbitration. problem is management has to do their job and stick with the program. they MUST keep ego out of the way and do the leg work. documentation and NO slip of the tongue. that is what managers get paid for not to be a friend and let the bad employees loaf/skip.

Yes. If we want to go back to having our own children working in factories. And if we women would like to be fired for having to leave for a while and have a baby. And if we want to work in crappy conditions with no health codes. SURE!! I'm all for it! How soon you forget how many people's blood was shed for these rights. The term "redneck", anyone know where that came from? Look it up.

They should be disbanded before they cause any further damage to the economy, with all of their greed and complaining and ridiculous demands.
Unions are outdated and should just go away. They destroy jobs.

They destroy jobs. Two points: 1. Only about 10% of the nations workforce are organized (unions). Hard to believe 10% of workforce is responsible for destroying the economy. 2. If the GM plant on 36th Street started taking applications for hiring, I am sure all of you anti-union types would be standing in line in the rain/snow to get in the door. I know I would be there. Union have destroyed the nation?? I guess if you consider child labor laws, workplace safety, minimum wage, equal pay for equal work, civil rights in the workplace, education, community service, et al, destroying our nation, you would be correct...

They destroy jobs. That makes so much sense. As union jobs have been systematically destroyed over the last several decades things have become so much better, right?
