Most of you are probably too young for these but,
Rowan & Martin's "Laugh In" was way ahead of its time. Rapid fire jokes. If you didn't pay attention you missed something. Hilarious. "Here come da judge"

Another one from the the late 60's was the Smothers Brothers comedy Hour. They were cancelled for being a little too political for the time. Great stuff. "Pat Paulson for president"

M*A*S*H got kinda preachy after it became "The Alan Alda Show," but Larry Linville and McClean Stephonson made the early episodes worth watching again.

Both of these shows are great cultural time capsules for that (our) generation. Tearing Nixon up on every episoode!

True, I liked the earlier episodes of M*A*S*H best. Too bad McLean Stevensen and Larry Linville are dead:(

I remember seeing an episode when I was very young where Hawkeye was in a small boat with no arms to row and there were arms and legs floating all about him. I was too young to understand; had nightmares for weeks (poor baby!).

It took some time, but the deeper meaning became clear. What a great show.
