He really should have thought about his family before he got in that car and drove drunk.I am quite sure he would not like that same phone call telling him one of his children was just killed in a car accident because some a** decided to drive drunk and not think about anybody else on the road. I am very sorry for this family and I hope the courts throw the book him. I have no pitty on drunk drivers that kill.

He is 40, and old enough to know better, too. Remember, When you make a choice to drive drunk. You will have to face the consequences. He sure did FACE them. Lets hope he does life, now.

may be people will finally realize alcohol, drugs, and all other addictions are a disease. The alcoholic will not recover until he makes the choice to get help and the others around him provide him access to help such as AA and alanon for victims of alcoholism. Condemning the alcoholic and writing laws to stop drunk driving and underage drinking will not stop the alcohilc from drinking and in turn stop drunk driving. People who stay home drinking and not drving aren't exempt from the disease for they cause divorce, domestic violence, child abuse, and other forms of destuction of property and worst of all destroy relationships in the family. The drunk driver should have been given help long before this ever happened. Liquor is just a symptom of the problem. The real problem centers in his mind and the thoughts he gets from his memories in his past interactions with the people throughout that past.

I'm sooooo fed up with this Bull...! Another beautiful life that will never be. Here's an idea for all you Wayland casino haters and anti- smoking idiots who want to protect me from bad things. Why don't you direct your energy towards legislation to require " Blow before you go " ignition systems on all cars.As for his punishment, he should have to watch videos 24/7 of the life he ended for the rest of his life

So you're God who tells people can burn in hell. Everyone commits sin for no one is perfect. His misdeed is between him and God. Forgiveness and healing will take time, for their will be many stages of anger, denial, and grief before it happens. He is probably very remorseful what he has done, and the state will provide some justice, but his conscience is what he is dealing with more than any punitive or inflammatory words are said back to him. We must pray for him as much as the little girl and her father who was hurt bad.

Changing the laws and making stiffer penalties early in the life of an alcoholic will make a difference in that they are forced to look at what they are doing to all involved... family, friends and community are effected by their actions. When the community steps up through stringent drunk driving laws they send a distinct message that this will not be tolerated! Now they need to look at the sonsequences of alcohol abuse in domestic violence and create some laws that will convince some that this is not acceptable behavior in civilized society.

People break other laws in civilized society. They tried prohibition but that didn't work cause people were getting booze on the black market. Alcoholism is a disease centered on the mind and the alcoholic left untreated will try to fill his craving anyway he can, and once he takes a drink, his thought patterns become so distorted that he can't make rational decisions pertaining to laws and ethical matters.

I am a weak -minded ,easily hurt person who has had Many bad things happen to me in this life, but NEVER will it make me want to bury my nose in a bottle or drugs.IT"S A CHOICE!!!

This is the story of a self-centered drunk loser who killed a ten-year old girl. He should be given the electric chair. Period. There's no forgiving this.

Yes it is a choice, but what influences our choices? What our mind tells us what to do. And in that mind he has a collection of good and bad experiences which he can't help to sort out on his own thinking without the intervention of a spiritual program of action. It is good that you can do the things you do to help give you peace, but what led you those choices? What your mind was telling you so you have a spiritual solution. The practicing drunk has no spiritual solution, and until that happens for him, he will not recover nor will he be able to make good choices. The solution to this whole matter is spiritual, not man made laws will not solve addiction problems which cause drunk driving, gambling, divorces, health issues, sexual immorality, etc.. More tougher laws may reduce drunk driving, but won't eliminate it. The spiritual disease will destroy other areas of the alcoholic and the victims lives.

There's no forgiving this. What about the mother who spanks her child for doing something wrong in the fathers eyes like not eating all of his supper when his stomach is already too full, and this goes on for eighteen years. That felt pretty bad you know? Should she get the electric chair? No, I forgave her because I had to find peace. I did it for myself. Wanting her to die would not remove her action. Everybody does something wrong in life, so we would need an electric chair factory to punish all the world's misdeeds.

we want to thank every one for their support and standing behind us out their. this beautiful was taken from us by the hands of a drunk careless person and we will never forgive him for that. i wish he could have known April, then maybe he would know the pain our family is suffering from his selfish act. unlikely of that ever happening now, their should never be any mercy on drunk drivers, he should be taken and used as a crash victim. they should put him in a car and smash it the way he smashed our family's car. but what would that solve? he would have an easy way out and we would still have our loss. i could never imagine the perfect punishment for taking someone elses life, especially a child.

I am a grandma and I have a 10 year old grandson who I adore. I can only keep your family in my prayers, which I will do. My heart is sad too for this terrible accident and April's death. Just know that where she is now, is very peaceful and she is happy there.

I agree with you TOTALLY. Laws alone will never solve any of these problems. While I'm sure I'll catch grief for saying this,Good parenting could do wonders in making it less of a problem. I was raised to consider all my actions and how they would affect those around me.Unfortunately, with all the broken homes and our 24/7 society, things just ain't the way they used to be. Also, what "LED" me to those choices was the fact that they hurt no one else and they helped me. I'd call that a WIN WIN and a no brainer and I'm just an average dummy and I figured it out for myself. Jaimie and Melissa....... Tonite all my tears are yours and I so wish I could give you more.
