Tired In Michigan

Jennifer wrote: Wish some of these comments were directed at big business, which receives more government assistance than all the little hungry bellies every thought of receiving. What a sad comment. Look, I know one of the largest employers in Michigan is state government, but who do you think provides the other jobs? Business Welfare is just a tired liberal hot button to advance unions and eliminate and constrain business. Who do you think pays higher prices and looses jobs when businesses must raise prices, cut jobs, or move to more reasonable states? Not everyone can get a job with the state or federal bureaucracies..... Wonder why college grads are finding jobs in other states? Why are people moving out of state in droves? The overpriced CEOs will get their money no matter what, but when you constrain businesses unnecessarily you have a net loss in jobs, government income, and employee income. All so that b@st@rd nasty businesses can wallow knee deep in profits while politicians can buy votes from gullible voters.

Sorry I ain't rich enough to have kids.

If you are getting taxed too much and still having trouble then you best try to manage your discretionary income better.

Jennifer types; "Show me one person who gets "everything" they need on welfare."
We lived near a welfare family of 5 who lived in a very nice house, took trips to Disney Land, and bragged about how their kids wore $20 T-shirts. We couldn't affort any of this.
Their kids also rode the school bus for free while we were expected to pay $200 a month per kid for the same service. BTW, the school bus picked their kids up and dropped them off at their doorstep. No such service was available for us.
The mother ran an illegal daycare center out of her house while the "father" did nothing but walk to the mail box for a living. This house also had constant in and out "traffic" day and night (and these visitors weren't picking up their kids either).
The problem is that we've had similar neighbors in every house and apartment we have lived in. These "poor" people always have lots of visitors on and around the 1st and the 15th of every month, plenty of money for fancy cars (with expensive rims and tires), and expensive casual clothing.
The only people who defend the welfare system are those that are on welfare and those that profit from the people that are on it. The same can be said for those that defend taxes.
Quote; " If you are getting taxed too much and still having trouble then you best try to manage your discretionary income better."
LOL. The welfare crowd should practice what you preach by managing their lives and breeding habits better. What a hypocrite.

I wish you had quoted the rest of my post. The one about show me your income tax forms. No one has ever taken me up on the challenge and I bet they won't. I think it is impossible to be taxed to death and poor. It doesn't work that way. If you are poor you don't get taxed. If you get taxed....you are not poor.

Put your money where your mouth is and post your 2007 income statement.
The only people who defend taxes are those that depend on taxes and those that profit from people that are dependant on taxes.
Quote; "If you are poor you don't get taxed."
Read my post again and tell us how you can afford to have 3 kids, live in a very nice house, go to Disney Land, and buy $20 T-shirts, etc, while being poor. Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way.
Again, the welfare crowd should pratice what you preach.

i challenge you.... to show us your high school report card! im willing to bet that you failed both government and economics.
"if your poor you dont pay taxes"
you might want to think about that statement a little more. i mean you DO actually SPEND money right?......... if you do, you ARE paying taxes. that is considering of course that you actually WORK for the money that you ARE spending..........

Personally I think anyone not earning at least $70k a year with a credit score of 760 or better should be shot in the head...I know I'm safe. So why do you live in allegan (hick town)then?

What you really mean is that you can't explain how you can be "poor" while living like the family I speak of.
Those that defend welfare and or taxes are usually on welfare, profiting from welfare, or dependant on taxes (like the "poor" family I mentioned).

And i've known many a poor family that's lived in small apartments, driven &500 dollar cars, bought all their clothes on sale at walmart or goodwill or donations from friends (one's son gets all my sons hand me downs). Just because one is poor or accepting foodstamps, help, etc doesnt mean they are bad people or abusing the system. Yes, they are out there, and in droves (seen them as well) however you cant lump all people into a category...think that's called stereotyping :)

If your wages are only $10 an hour and you are working full time supporting a family of 4, your children qualify for health care through the state of MI. You will find that the doctors are the same doctors you have used before and no fight with the insurance company to pay the bill, ever. After two years of a child being on this program (and a certain age/grade level), they are eligible for a 2 year full-tuition scholarship at most MI colleges/universities (TIP Scholarship)and some monies for the last two years as well. This is a great program and I encourage anyone with a child, that makes under $50K a year (higher limits when you have more family members) to apply for health care through the state for their children. This is a way to break the cycle of poverty and get middle and low income children in college.

Anyone seen that TV commercial that says the states with the "shale basin" have a lot of natural gas?
Well they show michigan as one of the highlighted states. so why hasn't granholm already invested mega bucks to drill for natural gas. Why has she allowed the priced to go up 30 to 40 %!!!!!!!!! While we sit on a fortune of natural gas, and could create jobs, income at record speeds.

Could someone please advise? I'm a single mother of a 4 year old child in Michigan. I DO NOT receive financial assistance, WIC, food stamps or Medicaid. I have worked for the same company for 10 years and am still employed. I do not drink, smoke or use drugs. I attended college prior to becoming pregnant, but never completed my schooling. I have severe financial problems which have resulted in garnishments of my wages and levvys on my bank accounts. As a result I am unable to access any of my wages, nor can I write checks to pay bills because my accounts are frozen. I am currently living with a friend who is helping me for now, but my financial situation is deteriorating rapidly. I am considering filing for bankruptcy, but cannot afford an attorney at this time; I'm afraid I will lose the few things I do have without a lawyer. What would be the best thing to do at this point without completely destroying my future any further than it already is?
