Sweetie, instead of being afraid of drive by shootings you should be more afraid of the state of our economy. People are losing their jobs, homes, and everything they own. Drive by shootings is the least of your worries.
Are you honestly comparing the loss of material possesions to the loss of human life?

Gang realted all the way. GRPS will not comment on it but I am sure both had ties to gangs. Get over the mourning and move on to help other kids stay out of gangs.

How about we let this particular Topix post die and go by the wayside? Both of these young men are now buried and gone out of our lives, time to move on and heal. Plus if both mothers continue to see this post in here,(if they even get in here), it can continue to hurt both of them.

It's time to move on and heal.

This was not a GOOD KID. This animal is a 21 year old adult who opened fire on a group of school kids, intending to kill someone. The escalation of this kind of activity must be stopped and it can only be done from within the community. Don't blame the police. When they try to increase activity in the troublesome areas they are accused of racial profiling. It is time for the communities with heavy gang activity to take charge of their own lives. When someone calls this murdering scumbag a "good kid" the problem is obvious. You cannot be in one of these parasitic gangs and be a "good kid".

If I had just lost a son, reading posts here would be the last thing I'd think of doing. On the other hand, if they don't like what they are reading, it's time to read something else.

I struggle with this. I hate to see anyone die and I do not applaud this death. I do not applaud people going to jail and prison either. It is sad all the way around.

I do blame your family and you deserve the pain you are in. With all his arrests he could not legally possess a gun. Yet he kills himself with a gun. You see his bragging about guns and drug selling on his MySpace. Tell me which one of the respected members of your family called the cops to get your murderous brother off the streets to prevent him from doing something stupid? No one went to his MySpace to say anything about the victim, how do you lament his intentional death and ignore what he did a 16 year old kid?

How do you know he did not pull the trigger? The police certainly have not released that information. Of course it is because you were helping a murdered escape justice and you were taken in by his story. If you did not drop the dime, you are part of helping a man who killed a kid hide from the law.

Your family will never have the grief it deserves and any child afflicted by your values should be removed from your home.

You silently stood by as a murdered was raised up in your family.

May God have mercy on your soul for it is beyond my ability.

Exactly, this was a criminal at 21 years old with a history. He brags on MySpace about being a gang member. He was dealing drugs, carry weapons and he, at the very least, took a part in killing someone if he did not pull the trigger himself.

Your brother becomes a gang member because of the rotten home life...and there is no one who reads that stupid post above who does not see your lack of respect for human life...and by that I mean the lack of respect to tell your brother to stop and then turn him in so he does not screw his own life up more. Better a few years in prison because a family member stood up than eternity in caskets for two people.

I knew them both.

What more is there to say about a kid who seems to have had a decent life, went to church every Sunday, was rather shy, chubby and a sweetheart to his family suddenly gets totally engrossed in the crazy allure of being a thug.

What about the child who was thrilled with taking drivers training, was well liked and mannerly, who just had a neat fresh hair cut and was shot multiple times in the middle of the day. He died right there on the sidewalk. A barrage of bullets hit him directly in the middle of his body. There on the sidewalk, he looked so sweet and peaceful, like a sleeping child. Dead so suddenly, although I could clearly see the holes in his jacket, he didn't even bleed.

I don't know what to say. These kids are "joining" gangs as if they are picking sides for a baseball game. I'm just sick.

SUDDENLY?!?!?!?!?!

Have you just lost your mind, the killer had a long criminal history for a kid just 21 year old. It is the character of you and those like you who stand on the sidelines and then act like you cannot figure it all out.

Unbelievable, the murderer practically advertised what he was on his MySpace.

Evil thrives when good men do nothing....There are too many of you and your friends doing nothing.

I can't believe the comments that I am hearing from the adults. We are missing the true picture here. Our children are dying on the streets everyday. We can go back and forth all day but if you want to know the truth we are all the blame. Regardless to how you feel you must teach your children the right way. And until we as a nation turn back to God these things will always happened. Parents you remember when we had prayer in school crime was not like this. To the family I hope confort your heart in a time like this

Give it up, Dobby. In their little gang-related world, he probably did something good.

You are right, I just do not want these jerks to have the last word here. This guy killed someone in cold blood, and we can all see how cold blooded this family member is.

So, what are YOU doing to stop the youth (gang) violence???? Have you really gotten involved at all, other than running your mouth?
Your question is what have I done to stop gang violence???
I have elected to be an envolved parent with my five children on both all levels ( spiritual, social and emotional level). Additionally, I volunteer at several Grand Rapids Public Schools regularly to help support our youth and be a positive role model. s for you what HAVE YOU DONE LATELY??????????
