Slidelock and Mabel Smith,
I wonder if it would help victims come forward if they knew there were other women he crossed the line with, and that they are not the only ones. Because doesn't John Roe's suspension expire this month? |

2 Mabel Smith I personally know several victims of John Roe's "therapy" as well...this guy should NEVER get his license back...we need to talk. |

He went to anger management classes as well--another lesson learned--Sadly, one has to do a lot of homework to find a reputable counselor. There are lots of good ones, but I guess you have to be careful.

any idea how widely spread john roe was with his therapy? can anyone come forward and let me know...

If there are indeed other victims who Roe had an inappropriate relationship while counseling, these women should come forward and make statements so re-instatement of his license is not an immediate consideration. If this is true, steps should be taken to bring this out in the open so that other women can be protected and safequarded in the future. I agree with you on this one. |

1 Exactly! The question is how do we help provide a safe and comfortable way for these women to come forward? As it stands now the allegation process seems to protect the perpetrator therapist. I am sure these women are humiliated and who would want their medical treatment records opened? This is an extremely sensitive matter of the mind, heart, body and spirit. I am determined to find a way to unite these women (I have a feeling there are many)...any suggestions? |

1 Ken won't be in the "general population" in prison. He will be in "protective custody" because he was a cop. So it is very unlikely anyone can get their hands on him EVER. |

Perhaps, if some of these women could all get together and discuss what happened to them in a place which was a safe environment for them, it might be a first step in helping them resolve which other steps to take in the matter. Perhaps, someone who is more qualified with dealing with abusors, perpetrators and sexual offenders could advise or counsel what actions they should take in the future. |

1 According to reports in the Holland Sentinel and Grand Rapids Press (the only media outlets to publish Roe's name, as far as I know), Roe's suspensions were actually for six months AND A DAY. The importance of this fact is that suspensions of longer than six months do not automatically allow reinstatement after the end of the term. Thus, he must re-apply if he wants to legally practice again. |
|
I agree, I would also like to help provide a safe and comfortable way for these women to come forward. Since the DeKleine story has come out, I have spoken with the two women/clients who I know, whose rights were violated by John Roe, their therapist. Unfortunately, neither are interested in coming forward. Both, said they just want to leave/put it in the past and "move on". I cannot say that I'm surprised, I also believe it is because the "allegation process seems to protect the perpetrator therapist." |

Yes. I had similar reactions from those I know. But maybe they could find strength if they came together to say ENOUGH. As far as I can tell this has been going on for years. No more women or their families should have to suffer. How can we get the word out to unite these women? A newspaper ad? A website? Flyers? |

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. |

i have no idea....could women in transition offer advice....i realize that there is not anyone that wnats to head this up, however, something needs to be done...are you in chicago, hope?

I believe its been an issue for years. I know for certain that it dates back to his days at "Behavioral Health at Holland Hospital", which has been about 7yrs (give or take). I agree the word needs to get out. |
