Your pay raises are a joke. Lacks has done a lot for the community, I will grant you that. Look at the cancer center. That is wonderful. The point is, they want you blue collar workers to give up your pay, but they still line their pockets. I have a great idea, why don't you start a business. I am SURE a person of your caliber will be VERY sucessful.

I have been at lacks for 7 years. I am almost 30, and have a family to support. The big dilemma is whether or not to take the buyout now, or wait and see what happens which could be worse....Or if I dont take a buyout, a person with higher senority could bump me out completely. It is a lose/lose situation for workers.

I have been an employee of Lacks for about 14 years and I must say that it is a great place to work. Even when times are tough they manage to find people who will take temporary voluntary layoffs instead of forcing people and they always seem to find enough people to volunteer. It is the auto industry and times are tough right now so they are finally having to do what so many other auto manufacturers have done. They won't do down the tubes though. I'm sure they will find enough people who are close to retirement who will take the buy-out that they are offering. Lacks has always made wise decisions as to their operations when times are slow and they always seem to come back stronger and bigger creating more jobs in the future. They have been around for a very long time and I trust they will be around for many more years to come. I am fortunate to have a job that treats their employees so well. As for the bonuses and raises someone commented on...we are lucky to get the bonuses that we do get (and yes, we do get them) because some places do not offer them at all and we are lucky that we get the raises that we do get instead of salary cuts in pay and I am thankful for that.

Last time Lacks was in the news for a layoff of 30 employees, these postings had the same rantings by the same idiots, stating malicious and unsubstantiated b.s. about Lacks being a poor employer. I've been here at Lacks a good portion of a decade, and I've never once heard of a solid worker getting a raw deal here. The people that get let go always are accompanied by a very sound reason for their termination. There are a few specifically who demonstrated major incompetence and were given countless chances and continued to perform very substandardly - and after years, were let go. The gentleman, SOS, above made some good points. If you are "the little man" in life, its by your own choice. You could have worked your butt off your entire life like the Lacks family all has, and built your own company so that you could "line your pockets" with the riches that accompany capitalism. If you want something for nothing and equality across the board regardless of effort, take your whining butts to communist-China or some such place where hard work is not rewarded. Furthermore, these ding-a-lings who want to rip and criticize Lacks also call the hard-workers here who hang on to their jobs "butt kissers". That is such a welfare, criminal, rebelious, immoral, loser attitude. The classy and great athletes respect their coaches/owners/refs. U.S. Military mandates respect across the board for leaders. The Bible (the fundamental religious script ascribed to by almost ALL of the founding fathers) also states it necessary to respect the laws and authorities in this world -(other religious doctrines besides Christianity state this principle as well). I honestly feel bad for the people who have poor attitudes and poor work ethic and get let go from their jobs for those reasons. I feel bad that they apparently don't know any better. However, I find it very moronic, bitter, envious, and incorrect to try and attach a stigma of "butt kisser" to those who respect their leaders and are team players who do the job, no matter how hard, and keep their mouths shut and just do the work. That is not butt kissing, that is hard work. Most of the workforce at Lacks falls in line with the ideals of hard work. I guess thats why Lacks is still a successful company (when you measure against the awful economic status of Michigan) and why Lacks can offer buyouts instead of just cutting people without any warning or severence like many companies. So for all you whiners complaining about Lacks, get a life. If you work here and don't like it, go somewhere else - or else try something novel - work harder and shut your mouth and quit whining - you'll probably be a lot happier. And just because you've shown up for work for 20 years doesn't always mean you are a hard worker. Hard workers go beyond their rate. They take classes and volunteer for hard tasks and stay late......and remember not to confuse the components of hard work with butt-kissing - you lazy whiners.
