Friends remember murdered teen

I only saw this movie one time, a long time ago, but it left an impact on me. It's called "The Boyz in the Hood" by Spike Lee. It's about a young African-American boy living with his single father in a neighborhood with gangs. His father tries to keep him out of the gangs, but also allows him to make his own choices. There are lots of shootings and killings, and it is very real and intense.

I suggest anyone who has not seen this movie to rent it, buy it or whatever, and watch it. Though it is crude with lots of filthy language, it is very intense and shows what gang life is about.

My condolences to the Witherspoon family and all of Day-Day's friends. All of you are very special kids and you're loved and wanted.

Lots of teens at his viewing today (10/02/08). Still extremely sad.

from what i heard he was in a gang and he was a good person but not all like what they are saying but we will never know its all sad and we need to stop killing eachother.

I drove by the area today where David was murdered. A small memorial is on the corner there still. It broke my heart and I wept. I did not even know this young man, but it still broke my heart. I see a lot of man-made memorials around town, but this one just hurt more than when I see the other ones. I hope "Day-Day's" family is beginning the long healing process.
