Parents turn anger to action in Wayland

Well Im glad to hear that something positive has actually came out of this terrible ordeal. Good luck to all the parents out there this coming school year!!

The parents that belong to the kids that started the fight should be ashamed as to how they raised there kids. First off 2 against one and this isn't the 80'o anymore. Grow up and teach your kids how to be respectfull no matter what choice people make.

Diversity always a good thing. I know it makes our school much more interesting & a far better place. Don't know much about today's Wayland. Have heard it has grown a lot. Sounds as if they are being proactive. Good luck to them.

when i would get out of school at west ottawa high school on the last day. we had **** day. where alot of the white kids wouldnt go to school on the last day!!

I'm so glad I am not a teenager anymore. Kids are out of control and in most cases their parents are to blame.

Never happened when I was in school.

This is ridiculous. The girl was supposedly attacked because of her sexual orientation. But I'm sure that, in a small town like Wayland, the only kind of diversity they'll talk about is racial/ethnic diversity. Too many parents, especially in the school district, would raise such a fuss if they talk about diversity of sexual orientation in the schools.

I graduated from Wayland several years back. It's not really surprising for me to hear of something like this happening. Lot's of half wit parents raising half wit kids with backwards ways of thinking. Hopefully the school will learn from this and be as good as it should be but until parents start educating their kids to be tolerant the problem will not disappear completely.

This kind of problem will never fully go away, but I think it's great that there are people striving to make a change! Good for you!

Usually people learn something good from a bad situation.

Good luck to these parents who are taking a stand to make a difference within their school district.

You cannot "diversify" bullies... not the ones who are members of "gangs" of religious cult members.

The number one source of school violence is bullying...and the number one "source" of bullies in school are Baptists who bully anyone not a Baptist.

Good reason to remove "God" from public schools and workplaces...

At gunpoint if necessary!

The next religious cult member who bullies any of my kids because of their religious choice is gonna die in a hail of lead!(Even if it means going to school locked and loaded!)

Take "diversity" and shove it... fixing the problem is going to take an act of violence by a victim! Violence is the only kind of spanking any religious cult will understand.

The Baptist Church has a large Debt to repay society...

Pay it now if you are Baptist and value your life!

Otherwise plan on being hunted like a 20 point buck in November!

(And when the Baptists are all dead...on to the Catholics....then the Jews...and the Muslim dung eaters!....**** and let GOD sort them out!)

So Baptists and other Nut Cult people need to wake up and think quick...

And Stay the H E L L away from my kids!

As long as there are parents around who believe that those they disapprove of deserve to be beat up, this will continue. The adult bigots teach their chldren by example to behave in this manner and will never tach them otherwise. This will end up being another case of "preaching to the choir". The parents whose kids act like this, in most cases, act the same way. And I'm not just talking about anti gay hatred, but hatred of any that don't feel the way they do.

how can any of you be surprised at this event happening in the public school system? its not new, its not going away and good luck with trying to change it!
