Chief, sheriff deputy shot in Capac

It's Capac, I think that sums it all up. Sorry about the victims...

damn my roommate is from yale..which is close to capac...his mom teaches there...you never like to see cops get shot..especially when youre a criminal justice student

I don't understand..........A man runs in the house comes back out and shoots two Law Enforcement Officers and runs back in. He is the only one in the house so why don't the SWAT team charge the house and get him dead or live????? Let this thung know you need to come out or we will come in and get you. What is it costing the city, County and State to stand there and try to talk to this guy who has no concern for life. This is my two cents!

Sad for all concerned, the victims, their family, and me closing on a house in that area. It's all connected.

The guy wasnt in the house they don't know where he is..and earlier in the day he was seen going down the road with the gun..i sure hope someone reported him..Prayers going out for all..

any idea on the description of the car/tag?? sorry for the viticms. Noting was said aboutthe officers condition?

He got away on foot. The deputy was just grazed, looked at and released. Hawks was in serious condition in surgery. One bullet in a lung, the other in an arm.

I was at the elementary school at the time of the lock down.I had heard about 20 different stories in the first half hour of the lockdown which was of course all coming from the outside.I would supose maybe after he shot the chief and deputy he must of escaped then, before all other police maybe got there.I couldn't believe it would of been possible for him after all the back-up came. If you were in the area you would know what i mean.I think the school was right in locking down the schools,if they hadn't this guy might have entered one of our schools, since he did get out of his house without anyone seeing him.This is the first time I have seen the schools in action in an emergency and I would like to thank everyone at the elementary school for a great job- I know first hand you do act in the best interest of our kids.Also I hope the chief has a full recovery!

I agree that the schools did a great job. However, and maybe I don't have the facts exactly correct?? But I had heard that this happened around 2:15, and 911 was called immediately. If this is true, why were the schools not notified immediately? My son was released and walked home from the middle school right on schedule. This was 20 minutes after it happened. Luckily, no harm came to any of the students, but something could have.

So hows the chief now? I heard he had at least one surgery. I also heard he died. Is it true? Is he dead? I heard he's dead. The shooter is a sissy.

500 cops watching the house for 5+ hours and he wasnt in there?****? Can you imagine if someone else was shot when the cops said he was in the house? Lawsuit. Good police work.

I am sure they interviewed witnesses which led them to believe he was still in the house. Are we going to blame the neighbors who were in shock and didnt see him run out the back door when they were more concerned about helping? Its so easy to sit behind a computer and say what you would have done or what should of been done when the real focus should be on praying for a man who was merely doing his job, has a family who right now doesnt really care about how long they stood outside waiting for this man to come out or turn himself in. Chief Hawks is going to make a full recovery because WE ARE ALL going to be praying for that outcome.

To clarify, I am also praying for Chief Hawks.

How scary. I am new to the west side of MI, formerly from Yale which is very close to Capac. Such a small town but nowadays it seems bad things are happening everywhere. Praying for the Chief.
