I don't believe that supply and demand are the only thing running this market. It is very frustrating to those of us who struggle each week or paycheck to paycheck and yet we have to sit back and watch the oil companies make record profits quarter after quarter! Of course government won't come in and intervene because it is those in the government that are profiting the most!(Oil men, George W. Bush and **** Cheney....)

Obama and Mc Cain are no better. i wish there was a slot at the voting booth with " none of the above" listed If everyone is willing try this party http://www.constitutionparty.org when Michael Petrouka ran I seen some people were sick of the 2 parties and the 1/2 truths and now Chuck Baldwin is running for president. Johnny, I would agree with you whole heartedly. What motivation does the oil companies have to help our economy when they are making record profits. The longer we delay coming up with alternative fuel sources or alternative ways to commute the longer these people will keep sucking us dry. I would like them to have a day or week living on my income and pay these prices. I fortunately have a pretty good job. I can hardly imagine those who are just making minimum wage!! \ Johnny Wockenfuss wrote: <quoted text> Sure, tear up Alaska to ensure that we have $4/gallon gas for the next 10 years, then what? We're still stuck using internal combustion, a 100-year-old technology, and prices skyrocket again after we've drained another natural resource. It's the boy with his finger in the ****...it's just a stopgap, and with more oil, it would take away any motivation by the energy companies to develop alternate fuels (why bother when you're already setting a new record profit every quarter?). At the risk of sounding like a tree-hugging hippie, this is a wake-up call to get going on one of the many new fuel technologies, which by the way, also creates jobs and doesn't bother the caribou :). Unfortunately, it may bankrupt us all first!

Its a total scam! When it was important for Bush to calm the American people, he tapped into the reserves to lower prices for awhile. Just long enough to confort us a little. He has nothing to gain at this point.(EXCEPT $$$$$ IN HIS POCKET) I'm sure its as bad or worse for some people, but my wife and I have been spending around $800 per month in gas, just going to and from work.

I also don't feel it's just the middle east but but our own oil companies taking advantage of us. Remember 911 when the prices jumped that day? The govenor stepped up to the plate. Where are the politicians now? I'm a single WORKING parent and it is hard enough to make ends meet. would you like to go on a date?

If we started drilling in Alaska today, we wouldn't have $4.00 gas for the next 10 years. It would be 10 years (at least) before we would see any benefit from it at all. Because, along with getting that oil out of the ground, we also need refineries for that oil. OTOH, being more self-sufficient means we need less oil from the middle east and if they hold less of a monopoly, they have less ability to command whatever price they want. Long term, we have to develop alternate energy sources but we also have to deal with the current situation. For the guy paying 800 bucks a month for gas...good God...are you both driving Hummers or something????

For the guy paying 800 bucks a month for gas...good God...are you both driving Hummers or something???? Been drilling in Alaska for a few decades now. Anyone remember the Alaskan Pipeline? "Oil began flowing on June 20, 1977. Since then over 15,000 million barrels (2,400,000,000 m³) have been pumped, peaking at 2.1 million barrels per day (330,000 m³/d) in 1988 and currently down to 720,000 barrels per day (114,000 m³/d)(April 2008 average)" As I recall it the majority of that oil has been exported to other countries. I think Japan mostly. Anybody knowing otherwise I'd like to hear it.

What no one here has brought up yet, is the fact that we actually EXPORT oil, then turn around and import oil. Now there is something to make you scratch your head.

Now they are sitting there, laughing all the way to the bank. They KNEW this would happen - and it did - because of the enviro-nazies. Drilling today is safer than ever, refineries are safer than ever. Yet both are still dangerous jobs. That is the price we pay for cheap energy. And Cheap energy is what is at the core of our nations economy and standard of living. Do not blame the companies - they exist to make profit for their investors. Put the blame where it belongs >> In the lap of the United States Congress, whose lack of proper oversight has allowed this to happen. It takes 6 years to get a new refinery going, and 4 years to develop a new oil field. Yes Congress, you shafted us again. First with ever increasing taxes, and now with ever increasing energy prices which are causing a ripple effect of all goods and services in America. And at the same time, our paychecks are decreasing.. Congradulations Congress! You have priced yourselves out of our market. As Don Trump would say, "You're Fired!"

Now we have a tax and spend moonbat running our state, and after 400,000 lost jobs (in 6 years) shes still spending money she doesn't have, and is still trying to raise taxes. Shes a poster child for the democrat party. Hillary has already said she would raise taxes. Obama hussain, I do not trust as he has little if any experiance. And has stated he too would raise taxes. Haven't we been taxed enough?!! Therefor, I have to vote against the tax and spend party and those who represent moonbat central. McCain gets my vote only because Ron Paul doesn't have a chance, and because I cannot afford more taxes.
