I forgot to add in. He 'looks normal', so for an outsider who doesn't know his situation and problems, they don't understand what's going on. Some have even suggested it's a lack of discipline and that I let him run wild. This is hardly the case!
Same goes for some of the family who even fought me on having the IEP done for him and trying to figure out what we could do to help him!

With my little man, it's the ability to keep him on a schedule and strict structure on what we do. If he's not on a schedule, at times all h.ell breaks loose. I can't change his drawers around for the seasons unless he's there helping me because he doesn't know where his stuff is. I can't rearrange the furniture without him helping or he freaks out. When we moved, we had him pack his own boxes and put them in his own room so he knew where his stuff went. I made the mistake once of not involving him in this when he was 6 and it was pure h.ell for everyone involved until he knew exactly where all his stuff went. This last move 2 years ago was completely different because he had been to the new place, knew exactly where his room was, and helped pack his stuff and carry it.
When he was younger, if the schedule became out of whack for some reason, we ran the risk of complete meltdown. We still have issues, but it's easier to deal with. BUT, if it's loud situations, complete disruption of schedule, and outside factors, he will go into overload and unless we are watching closely, we still have meltdowns. We have instructed all of our family and friends on what to watch for and how to handle it. Believe me, it has made all our lives much easier, his included!

He just doesn't seem to care like other children with autism do. His main throw back is the gagging thing. If there are too many people in a room, he'll gag. If he sees someone eat, drink, or just food on the table, he gags. So frustrating. he also has such a bad temper. I can't stand it when he cusses out my children! and afterwards he'll say "No more you my friend!"
