Granholm signs safety seat bill

I hope they enforce this one better. I am always seeing kids not in seatbelts at all! It makes me so mad...How can a parent be so negligent towards there kids. I think this is good. Anything that will keep our kids more safe!

What the heack is wrong with our Government, Pretty soon they will be telling us what color underwear we have to wear.
Child seat belt law hello,, what is there are kids who are 10 and not that tall or 15 and not that tall ?
they going to tell us our 15 year old needs to be in a booster seat ?
Our Governemt is being retarded by trying to change our laws for their own Political agenda. Just like the smoking bans,, Is Smoking Illegal ? No it isn't but they seem to think they can tell us where we can smoke and where we can't. Our Government Should take care of they Important stuff like Criminal laws and Murders and Our Wars that they are creating then worry about something that isn't against the Law .

hopefully they will also offer safety seat checks as i've heard high statistics about improperly installed safety seats.

My kids are in Seat belts by the way, I strongly make them get in them but hello ,, Booster seats at the age of 8 or 9 come on be real..
What about people who can't afford one or Sorry I think the shoulder starps are more harmful for all of us . They can let our Motorcyclist not wear helmets but hey tell everyone they need there 8 or 9 or 10 year old has to sit in a booster seat.. They going to redesign them for the kids that are already to big for car seats?

How about Little People ? Are they Going to make them be in a Booster Seat when they are Driving ? Or in the Car or being a passenger because they are shorter than everyone else ?

the people who already do this are not likely to follow this new law, stupid is as stupid does

Coming up with ill-conceived laws that she can apply fines to are the only way our Governor can generate revenue for Michigan.

Ok I'm confused. I thought we had a helmet law for motorcyles?

While I'm sure the law was met to protect our children, why not start with the fact that daily I see people not seat belting their children or the people that are not strapping in their infants.

no doubt..........but that would be helping the schools that she(alledgedly) help out so much

I guess this makes a criminal out of nearly every mom that car pools the kids to soccer practice, or music or to any school or sports activity. Sure can't take your firends' kids with you to the park or the beach! Because you can't have an extra 6 car seats in various sizes in the trunk or the back of the minivan to properly, correctly and leagally seat every possible child combination in a 7, 8 or 9 passenger van.

They should rename this the "Soccer Mom Toll Charge Act."

Not only does this COST MONEY for parents, but the fight will be trying to get the kids to actually sit in such a seat after they have not been required too up until this point. It seems our law makers have nothing better to do than impose stupid laws such as this in order to make the government more revenue for THEMSELVES!

there are too many idiots on the road doing lots of stupid things. most accidents are caused by inattention. and our police are in my opinion the worst offenders. I hate seatbelt/helmet laws. in my opinion if you are too stupid to wear them, it was nice knowing you. yes I know kids are an exception but there is that whole apple, apple tree thing.

Read the article again. It applies to children between the ages of 4 and 8 who are 4' 9" tall and under.
That said, I have a 12 year old who only just reached 4' 9" tall a month ago.
