By not exploiting the tragedy in the news media by having all these weepy candlelight vigils and ceremonies and condolence books and bell-ringings and instead allowing the survivors to grieve in private.

Also, why are all the 9/11 victims "heroes?" Sure, the military and firefighters were, but there were also a lot of victims who were just simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel sorry for them, but just being a victim of 9/11 does not make them a "hero."

The obsessive 9/11 media coverage and exploitation is a national disgrace.

by not voting the coward Obama into the Presidency, voting him in office will be a slap in the face of all who died on 9/11 and all those who have died, were injured or are serving in the military since 9/11.

Just because my friend didn't die fighting the fire, digging thru rubble, had a tower fall on him, etc., he was a hero to me for what he stood for as a man.
Maybe you should just stick to your "p u * s y" heroes such as Spiderman and Batman.

Look up "USS New York". Our goverment used 24 tons of steel in making a new war ship. This makes me want to hurl! Do you believe how the towers came down? Then why was no investagation done on the steel? To make a ship out of a murder scene is revolting, but our goverment could care less about us, and it shows. To those hurting I will pray for you. But you owe it to those you lost to seek the truth no matter what!

Bring our boys home from Afghanistan, Iraq, and the other 130 countries worldwide we have them stationed, close down these bases and put our troops that come back on the borders and in the ports and harbors where shipments of goods come into this country and have them inspect every bit of imported stuff coming in. Have our Navy patrol every inch of waterways for anyone trying to get into this country illegally.Have our boys go into inner cities and clean up the gang activity that has ravaged our bigger cities with drugs and violence. Set up detention camps for deportation of all illegals that are here in this country. Finally secure this country from terrorism the way it should have been done from the beggining. Issue a order of Mark and Reprisal for Osama Bin Laden and go capture his asz finally and bring him back here where we could have a televised death sentance and capital punishment for him so the whole world can see.

Let all family members who lost someone and are willing to stone Osama to death. Take the money saved from pullling all our troops home and build a new memorial on the very site of Ground Zero. Then take the leftover money we will be saving by disbanding the Dept of homeland security and Fema and give that job to our military to help in disasters and any threat which they are better trained to do better than who we have now. There will still be billions left so start paying down the deficit thats alreay at 9 trillion and growing day by day. End our involvemnt in the U.N., the W.T.O., end NAFTA,CAFTA, and eliminate the Federal Reserve, and the income tax and replace it with nothing. Put the U.S. dollar back on the gold reserve and get this country back onto it's feet again and show the World we are back and we are looking out for ourselves first for a change. This would be a perfect way to honor the fallen heros of 9/11.

<quoted text>I know it's a day I will never forget. In a classroom with a few students. Another student ran into the room and told us to turn on the TV. It was right after the first plane. We sat and watched as the second tower was hit, live on TV. It was like we thought "this can't be happening". It probably had a similar impact like I can imagine my Grandparents remembered Pearl Harbor, or my Parents remember the day JFK was shot.
Same here, Hurley. I was volunteering in a school classroom when we got the news about the first tower. I went to the office to find out what they wanted us to do, and they said, for the older children to turn on the tv's in the classrooms. I was there to see the second plane hit.

That scene will be etched in my mind forever. There is another thing about that day and the days afterward that I remember, this whole Country came together, to stand together, to unify.

The footage is being reran on TV this week to remember the events.

I say a thorough investigation and hearings by Congress next year will be a great way to pay homage to the victims.

Keep it on your heart. It's the only place you can be sure it is sincere, valued, and kept in perspective.
May 4, 1970 was a date that rivals 9/11 in my mind.(Four Kent State University stundents shot by Ohio national guard.) I was foolish enough to go to the 20th memorial service on this campus, intending to pay my respects to the victims.
It was not a memorial in any sense of the word. Healing or enlightenment were the farthest thing from the organizers intentions. It was all politicized anger, Ronald Reagan was refered to as a "Nancy Reagans vegetable",...etc., in other words it was awful.
Sadly, it would appear from a good share of the posts in this poll, that I should expect nothing else for the memories of 9/11.

My thoughts and prayers to those who were lost on that day, as well as those who lost loved ones that day.

I saw it in person, there is no way I want to relive that day. I am still going over it in my head.

If I could have that day again, and if my Dad could have had that meeting in T-1 a day earlier... but I can't go back and the nightmares still haunt me.

I cannot endorse all you say. But you make some good points. I don't understand why we have troops in so many countries. Its an expensive way to intimidate them. I know the conservatives call it protecting them.
I responded to your posting because.......YOU ARE THE FIRST ONE IN THIS STRING TO SAY THAT BIN LADIN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I AGREE!!!!

The questions every American should be asking your Congressmen, Senator, and any other public official that will listen is this.

1. Whay hasn't Osama Bin Laden ever been indicted by a grand jury and charged with the 9/11 attacks?

2. Why is it that if you go to the F.B.I. website Osama Bin Laden's picture is posted on their most wanted terrorist list but in the lists of crimes against him wanted for capture there is no mention of the 9/11 attack?

3. Why is it that John McCain says if he is elected president he will hunt Bin Laden down even if it means following him to the depths of hell? Why as a Senator he is not doing it now? Why is it that only if you nominate him as President then he will go ahead and do this?

4. Why is it that we have created the Patriot Act, the FISA Bill, and all these other so called ways to catch terrorists eventhough it takes away our basic rights granted to us in the Constitution but yet we leave our Borders so wide open that if a terrorist organization wanted to enter the country they could do it with relative ease?

5. Why is it that when President Bush anounced back a year ago that border security would be strengthened, we actually took border agents off our border patrols and sent them to Iraq to help the Iraqi's protect their borders? Even though we are so worried that we will be struck again by one of these radical terrorist groups?

I will leave you with this quote from Benjamin Franklin, "Those willing to forfeit LIBERTY for SECURITY, will have NEITHER".

We must as Patriots demand our elected officials to repeal the Patriot Act and the FISA Bill and restore Habeus Corpus. This sould not be a suggestion this should be a demand!

Thomas Jefferson once said, "When the people fear their government, there is TYRANNY. When the government fears the people, there is LIBERTY"

It is time people, time to demand change, for if we do not do it now what kind of America will our children inherit?

Why did the FBI building 2 blocks away fall too? I don't understand. How can building 2 blocks away fall and the buildings right next to the twin towers stay standing.
