With Halloween coming up, I thought it might be fun for everyone to share a story or two- if they're not too afraid....

Remember, no one knows who you really are, so feel free to tell about your experience.

I used to sleep in a bedroom where a man killed himself back in the 60's. He was a Vietnam veteran that, I'm told, had a lot of problems when he came home.

Back them I was about 13 or so and didn't know about him.

I used to lie in bed at night and listen to this soft, muttering noise in the room- like a man was talking to himself. My parents told me it was just my imagination, so I tried hard to ignore it, but it went on and on.

One night I woke straight up listening to someone laughing. Scared the H*ll out of me. We moved years later and I started being able to sleep.

I'll never forget that sound.

I spent the weekend at my friends house in VA, the house that they lived in was very old it had three floors. On the top floor must have been like a old addict but was made into a living room and a bedroom. One night I was sleeping up there on a air matress and woke up to a man standing at the end of my bed. But this wasn't the only innocent that took place another time there was a woman crying on the stairs going up to the room and sometimes the washer lid would all of a sudden be raised up.

Pretty scary stuff, needless to say the next times I went back I slept on the couch in the living room on the lower level.

After my mom passed away, I came home and was sitting with my family. We started taking some pictures of the kids hanging out and getting along for once. In the pictures, there were orbs all around my kids. Same angle, but the orbs were in different places for different pictures. Some very pronounced, some not. Haven't seen any more orbs in the pics I take with that same camera.

I have about a million ghost stories that I have experienced.

Here is one of my favorites; I was in my bedroom sleeping and I woke up to check the time. I do this at least five times a night. I looked out from my bedroom and saw this little girl in a night gown, sitting with her legs crossed just floating and looking at a picture of Mickey Mouse I had drawn as a kid. I just kept watching her as she seemed so happy and interested in the picture. Well, she must have felt me looking at her because she turned and glared at me and in less than second she was right in front of my face, glaring at me. My heart started beating really fast and I closed my eyes. After a few seconds I opened my eyes and she was gone but the air around me was freezing cold.

It was an interesting visit. I have things like this happen to me all the time. I scared the crap out of my niece when I was talking to her mom about some of the newer strange things that have been happening.

Good times!

Growing up I used to wake up all the time to old style country music, it was very faint. I can remember doing everything to the clock radio next to my bed, right down to unplugging trying to get the music to stop, and it wouldn't.

I moved to an old apartment quadraplex thing on Michigan st in GR while going to school down there, and that one was crazy too. I used to wake up and my kitchen cupboards would be open when I was the only one in the house. There would be several times where my printer would go off in the middle of the night. One night in particular I woke up to the numbers flashing and changing on my alarm clock. I didn't stay there long, that's for sure.

So, yeah, I've had nothing concrete, but enough in the way of experiences to know that we may not be alone.

When I was 18 years old, I practically lived at my best friends house. His family lived in a big old house in the ghetto (Franklin and Eastern). I'd be sitting in the living room with my smokes and lighter on the table next to me. No one else in the room. When I'd reach over to grab a smoke, they'd be gone, along with the lighter. We'd always find them months later, hidden in a box in the basement or tucked in a corner of a closet upstairs. This happened half a dozen times over a few years. We always felt a presence, but never felt threatened. We think maybe it was the ghost of someone who died of lung cancer trying to keep us from smoking.

I grew up in a religious household and I was taught that there were invisible spirits that watched over us. Some were good, while others were evil.

As a child I, too, would lie in bed and sometimes hear soft voices. Usually, they'd be whispering my name. I can still remember how spooked I'd be. I remember thinking, what do they want from me?

Hmmm... I don't neccessarily beleive in ghosts. Now sometimes, evidence supports supernatual beings and I beleive in those becuase a spirit never dies- only a body.
Anywho- when I still lived in England, my grandmum had an old manor that she owned but didn't live in. She would visit from time to time-but she didn't make her residence there.
One day, I asked her to take me on a tour of the old house because it was so huge and lovely, she did so but she didn't take me to the higher level. When I asked why, she said, "Taylor, it's dangerous up there. Spirits of my ancestor inhabit the upstairs."
Of course, at 9 years old, no meant yes and ghosts meant fun. lol
so I convinced my grandmum to stay there into the night. It was about 10PM and I went upstairs after grandmum had fallen asleep in the formal sitting room.
The grand staircase stretched about 100 steps up and a dark, musty haze was preent up there because of the lack of activity. I climbed the starcase and when I got to the top, I heard footsteps. I thought, "Oh darn! Grandmum heard the squeaky steps." So I ran down the hall and darted into the first door available. It appeared to be a guest bedroom with mahogany furnishings and mauve velvet plushing. Gorgeous, really.=))
I heard a moaning and looked around thinking maybe it was the breeze whistleing through a crack in the window. I tip toed over to the window and looked out at the grounds behind the manor. no cracks or whistling here.
I just stood there, taking in the splendor of the expensive fabrics and woods.
Footsteps- again. heavy, paced footsteps. I looked up and the figure of a man was standing near the side of the bed. A tall, thin man with a bag and a hat. He leaned over the bed and it was then that I noticed the another man laying in the bed. He appeared sick and the standing man appeared a doctor. He did a routine check and then paced away from the bed- disappearing. I heard a woman's quiet sobbing from the opposite side of the room. The man in the bed called out something I couldn't understand. He then went into a small, short fit of convulsions- and then all was still. He didn't move, he didn't breathe. The woman's cries grew louder and then slowly faded away as did the body of the man in bed...

I asked my grandmum if anyone had died in the hose she said ye, that her great grandfather, who had constructed the manor, had died in the mauve guestroom...
Putting the peices quickly together- I realized that the ghosts I had seen, where a repay of the death of my great-great grandfather...

I've had a few memorable incidents. Best one was when I was pregnant with my daughter. My grandpa came into my bedroom and sat on the side of my bed, looking sad - told me he wouldn't be able to see my daughter born, but that he loved us.(I'd had no ultrasound, so no known gender yet.) We chatted for a couple of minutes and he left.

Well - he lived over 400 miles away and was not visiting. I had been staying at my mom's (it was her dad), and I woke her up. Within minutes we received a phone call that he'd just had a major heart attack. The bizarre thing is that I was awake the whole time and found it perfectly acceptable that he appeared and then left without ever moving. When his wife - my grandma - died a year ago - I was ironing near a window and shelf with photo albums on it. A loose picture of my grandparents - both smiling - dropped onto my ironing board (and it hadn't been sitting out.) I glanced at it, went into the kitchen to throw something away and came back to put it safely away - the only one like that I have of them - and it was gone. Not on the board, not on the floor - nowhere. I got to work and heard from my brother that grandma had passed away at 8:27 that morning - the same time the photo appeared. I figured it was grandpa saying he had her safe with him.

Other stories too, not so much fun...

I answered yes to the poll although I am somewhat skeptical but I have to believe that there is some sort of presence that could be among us.

My husband and I went camping Labor Day weekend last month. My husband's grandpa had passed away earlier this year. Well, grandpa was very well known around his small town for the wooden hummingbirds he carved. He carved them and gave them to many people that he came into contact with throughout the years. Well, while we were camping, my husband was standing by the firepit and all of a sudden, a hummingbird flew over and was just inches away from his face and stayed there for several seconds just staring at my husband. It was unreal. Then the bird flew over to our tent and checked it out. Then it flew over to the screened tent, went inside and flew around then went and sat on a tree branch just watching everything for a minute. Then he flew away. As the bird was flying away my husband said "bye Grandpa".

What a tool. If you want to talk smack politics, go do it on a political thread. Some people need a break from all that BS so we have fun threads like these. So p!ss off.

Yes, I believe in ghosts, although I do feel there is a lot of stories that can be debunked. Does anyone ever watch Ghost Hunters on the SciFi channel? It's pretty good stuff. It's on Wednesday nights around 7 or 8 and they usually run back to back episodes.(It's been a while since I've watched, but it's good stuff).

I don't know if I believe in ghosts exactly, but have you ever been to Alcatraz or Gettysburg? Even objectively and with no preconcieved ideas, those places have a very, very, heavy vibe and a definate 'presence'...

I lived in an apartment in an older house in Heritage Hill for about 5 years and it was definately haunted. The things that happened were not threatening but were like stuffed was moved, the water would come on in the kitchen sink, light bulbs came up missing, a piece of expensive paper showed up on the kitchen floor, my radio would come on and off, my belts were hung on a hook on my closet door and they swayed back and forth. I was only scared, really scared once when the lights in the hallway outside on my door were burned out and I thought that I was the only person in the building and I heard the door knob down the hallway jiggle. I was so scared that I couldn't move off of my couch. My cat got real freaked and I was just so scared that I still get goose bumps when I tell about it. The neighbor across the hallway said that he had stuff moved in his apartment too so I realized it wasn't just me being crazy. The apartments (6 of them) were always for rent because the people wouldn't stay but I did stay because the rent was reasonable and the ghosts never really did much to scare me except with the belts and the hallway door knob that lead to the basement that was jiggled..

Ghost Hunters is great. They go in trying to debunk everything, so it's nice that they actually want proof of something before claiming it's haunted. They're on Weds nights, with the repeats starting at 7 I think and the new one on at 8.

Bravo! Hang the politics for 5 minutes. I watch Ghost Hunters every chance I get. Not sure I buy into the whole K2 meter thing that lights up, but who knows...maybe there's something to it.

When I was a kid I would see a face looking at me through an upstairs window. I wasn't asleep, and it happened more than once. It would peer around the side of the window so I would only see half the face. He was no one I recognized, but I'll never forget it.

LMAO @ what a tool

I watch Ghost Hunters and almost every other paranormal show out there. I like the guys from GH. They are very honest while investigating.

I am always be awakened by someone shaking my bed or yelling in my ear. I don't think it has anything to do with where I live, though. I think it's me. I have these strange things happen to me where ever I am. I had to smudge my house once after I was, I guess you'd call it attacked. That was the only time I was ever afraid, too. I couldn't move or scream for over 10 minutes and felt a tremendous amount of pressure on myself. My bedspread was flattened like there was something pressing it down. Made for a sleepless night.
