It's so sad to see just about every week a teenager getting shot in Grand Rapids. There lives haven't even really begun and they are over. It always seems to happen around 2 a.m....I wish the parents could get their kids in say maybe at 1:00...then we might not have to read about their kids dying. Sorry for the family.

Im sure the reason wasn't even close to being worth a persons life. This is the sad thing about todays society. I can see shooting to protect you or your loved ones lifes in self defense but this is just insanity. Guess the Glock has to stay within arms reach at all times just to defend myself.

I agree with Pedro....2 more wannabes thugs gone forever...the street is a safer place today. Its a good way to clean up the community I'd say, just keep it in their neighborhood I'd say..

@I am who I am

Sad to say, but I'm guessing the parents weren't involved in the kids' lives much to begin with.

Why are some people obsessed with the “time” things happen? It’s not as if many of these conflicts would not manifest during the hours of 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, if people were somehow locked into their homes at night. It’s like how in some places, like LA and Chicago, the violence is blamed on “gangs”. It’s not as if that these cities would have lower murder rates if there were no “gangs”., given that that many cities without similar degrees of gang membership have much higher rates of murder. New Orleans for example:

There are very good parents who are doing the best that they can….whose children become perpetrators and or victims of violent crime. Yes there are bad parents, but there are good parents too. I know, I have a brother who was into the streets and violent crime in the 80’s. Those same parents of his, mine, produced a child who earned a bachelor of science in computer science and who was an honor role student. How do you explain that? Same parents….different results. My father was a minister and mother is the nicest and most caring person on this earth. Reality does not fit neatly into the perceptions of armchair behavioral psychologist.

The metrics of a good or bad parent is not determined by the outcome of the children alone. One has to look at the challenges and pressures that some environments come with more than do others. The fact that your parents did not raise someone who committed or was a victim of violent crime does not make your parents “better” than those who did. You cannot judge unless you walked in the same shoes…..but you will and you do judge.

Not alot of good things happen after 11pm with young people involved.

The "time" issue will always be brought up by responsible parents. Irresponsible parents don't care. My parents told me "nothing good happens after dark". Sure looks like they were right all these years.
Plus, it was a weekday - why wasn't the young man in bed getting some rest for work the next day?
That isnt the point! You o'so perfect people gets on my damn nerves. He probably didnt have a job. Its not easy to get those nowadays or have you not cared to notice that. You don't know, I don't know except for whomever was there at the time as to what happened. Not Typical White Person, Typical Idiot!!!
