The last two fatal maulings in the US were not from pitbulls. They were a sheepdog mix and a lab puppy or a pug. Hmmm.... that's interesting.

I have two pit mixes a male and a female, both fixed. I would agree with mandatory neutering and no chaining your animals. I also think dogs that have bitten people shouldnt be given another chance. Animals shouldnt be off leash and should be taken to obedience classes. Alot of it is smart ownership and people should be held accountable. I have extra homeowners because I have dogs that are "pitbulls" and I don't take my dogs to the dog park. There are people who definately should not own them or any dog for that matter.

We've already heard that from you. C'mon now, honey! Where's the new stuff? That's not convincing us. Surely a brain as intelligent as yours has much more convincing material! |

1 Yep, 6 week old pup, likely recently weaned from mama's milk, likely smells milk on the baby....A freak accident is Quite Different than a pitbull attacking a child upon the child jumping off of a couch----REMEMBER the PREY DRIVE in pitbulls registers off the charts....or do I need to repost that information class??? Kick your feet some more while rolling on the floor ain't gonna change the facts honey |

I'm not trying to start a flame war but why are there so many degrading comments here? It's almost like reading TMZ.
This is just a question. |

1 I, unlike you, am waiting for more information about the lab in the recent case; I am not going to play off of media hype, which is what you are doing, sort of like, "na-na-na-na, boo-boo, ha-ha, a lab pup mauled a baby..." |

btw, anyone care to bet me that the Experts will find my theory about the milk correct?? Or, that the puppy viewed the baby as a 'chew toy' as puppies view everything [shoes, pillows....], and not as something as 'prey' like a pitbull views people?

Thank you for proving my point; not ONE SINGLE breed is responsible as is the SIXTEEN deaths caused by pitbulls last year, huh?? I knew you were on my side |

Carl Friedman, director of San Francisco's Animal Care and Control, said that although he does not want to condemn an entire breed, local and national statistics support taking steps to regulate pit bulls, such as mandatory neutering.
"When you have a mauling where a 12-year-old child is killed and when 50 to 60 percent of our hearings for vicious and dangerous animals are for pit bulls, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see we have a problem with pit bulls," Friedman said. FIFTY TO 60 PERCENT Maybe you people don't understand how percentages work? |

Hey, I used to have a couple rats for pets, too! One was named Justice and she used to play tag with my cat. I had this big L-shaped couch and the would start on the back of the couch on one side and chase each other to the other side then turn around and chase each other back. It was cute. I really loved that rat. Unfortunately they just don't have a very long life span. And I never could bring myself to like the ones with red eyes very much. You know, the all white ones with red eyes? |

1 We all know you are way more likely to get killed in a car accident or even crossing the road than you are getting attacked by any dog, even a pit bull. If you don't like pit bulls, don't own one. If you do, make sure you know how to handle a strong breed. Never leave any animal alone with a child. Any animal can be unpredictable. Especially when provoked. Maybe someday Rval will explain to me (since this is the 3rd time I have asked) why there are not thousands of documented fatal attacks caused by pit bulls seeing how there are at least 220,000 registered pit bulls in the US. Seems that not every pit bull is bad after all. And lastly, I will continue to rescue pit bulls or any other bully breed if I see fit and even those annoying ankle biters I really don't like because every animal deserves a chance at a good life. Take care, God bless and get out there and enjoy the gorgeous weather today!! |

I have had four with red eyes; Peanut, Face, Frick and Frack. They have been some of my best rats. The red eyed rats are supposed to be good luck. Check out this site: http://www.ratzrealm.com/id28_htm.htm If I can't find rats to rescue I get them from this breeder. |

i agree with boo... if you would read the paper and watch the news before you got on here to bash on the parents you would see the kid was left at home with his 23 year old brother... so why are none of you bashing him??? so all of you are saying that just because you have kids you can never leave them home with a sitter (which this boy had)???... i bet all of you that have kids have if fact left them with a sitter...

Really? I didn't know they were supposed to be good luck. How cool. I know this is wrong, but they just always freaked me out. I don't know why except the red eyes. Rats are fun, though. I like them. I would probably let my boys have some as pets when they are old enough to properly handle animals that small. Right now the poor toads they find in the back yard don't make it for very long. Poor things. Unless I can convince the kids ahead of time that their families really miss them so we should probably let them go.......:) Your ISP says San Diego. We used to live in Vista over by Oceanside. Beautiful place but couldn't stand to live there too long. Too many roads and people and not enough trees.(I am obviously from a very small town in West Michigan.) I sure do miss the 5 minute drive to the ocean though. |

I know this is all way off topic, but I don't know how this forum stuff works yet. I lived in Vista for five years and now live in Escondido. I work on Camp Pendleton and am maybe 200 yards from the beach. Small world! |
