Don't they all have to be close together? having them scattered doesn't sound right.

Enough already... Enough with the light bulbs, hemp shopping bags, hybrid taxicabs, rickshaws in Midtown, etc. At the end of the day, this is all small potatoes... Your Honor; if you want to do something serious about global warming and energy independence, decommission a coal-fired power plant and replace it with a nuclear one. OK??? Let’s get serious here!

I knew the minute I saw this post earlier that there was no way in hell you could pass it up!!! LOL It's not wind from the mayor it's toxic waste & the environmentalists would end up rallying to stop the pollution from his mouth.

Bravo! I am SO GLAD to hear something that constructive and proactive coming out of the Mayor of NYC's office, or ANY U. S. Mayor's for that matter. Now let's see if the plan is REALLY executed in a timely fashion or if it's just lip service. Amen, somebody is finally using some common sense.

I live on the water and don't want this eyesore! Let this billionaire windbag put these windmills on top of all his wealthy friend's buildings. If Florida and NJ don't have to look at oil rigs, NYers don't have to look at those ugly eyesores wrecking OUR Beaches!

NYC and the surrounding areas aren't good places to put windmills. There are much better options available. That's not to say alternatives shouldn't be explored, but the most efficient wind turbines are in the middle of Nevada or the midwest on a hill. It takes careful planning to place these turbines, and NYC area really isn't optimum. You need stronger winds. Out on East Long Island and the far islands, perhaps?
