Some men cheat because they have bad prinicples and got married because they had a baby before the marriage.
Some men cheat because they fall in love.
Some men cheat because they have a mid-life crisis and feel as though they are losing their youth or what they had before marriage... all the partying and getting drunk (not that all men get drunk and go to parties).

The men who stay faithful are the ones whose wives are confiident in them and support them and find security in them, but that does not men that a husband won't desire other women (and there is nothing wrong with that). Men who focus on the greater things in life do not cheat. Men who focus on their animal instinct cheat.

Yet, there is nothing wrong with a husband having a second wife (but there should be a limit). Being able to marry an one additional wife is better than cheating, and there is less fear of sexually transmitted diseases. All men should not be allowed to have the opportunity to have a second wife. Only married men who qualify should. This will give women the upper hand in their choice mates and there will be less cheating.

Because after being married for so long, couples frequently take each other for granted and just treat each other "special" on anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, etc.

The flirtation that once sparked all the interest is gone. Or if you're "stuck" and are afraid to pay alimony, split the finances, retirement money, etc. then you try to tolerate one another than have to deal with all the inconveniences that could result. But inside you feel dead and have a need to get a "jumpstart."

yes, men cheat because we naturally select the most healthy/beautiful/reproductive ly promising mating partners. this is natural selection. when women start taking responsibility for their health, shape, and husbands needs - men will take full responsibility for not cheating. men feel they continue to provide as they first did for their wife, so why should the woman stop providing for the man's needs? i personally have not cheated but have wrestled the thought several times. i know there has to be more to life than a little side hottie. i think maybe the catch22 is that as a man gets older he slowly becomes more dependent on the love built factors(ie. family time and mushy crap). as hard as that is to swallow.

I strongly agree with this.

Humans are genetically predisposed to create to pair-bonds, but it's also natural for us to desire sexual variety. Of course, it can be argued that what separates us from animals is a sense of knowing right and wrong and that we should use that to overrule nature. But why must we 'overrule' nature? Why can't people just accept nature, and then we can all stop being so neurotic? The only mores we adhere to are those created by ourselves. Most religions don't even require exclusive monogamy, and that is the ultimate self-created set of mores.

People cheat purely for selfish reasons. It's all about them...never mind anyone else that is affected. Cheaters suck.
