This kind of thinking is exactly why the Catholic Church finds itself in the crisis it does.

It looks as though our careerist Cardinal is looking to be appointed to the Vatican. Funny enough a spot just opened after the recent death of Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, president of the Pontifical Council for the Family. The Cardinal in charge of this Curial post is the church's most vocal prolife advocate. Coincidence, I guess it is possible. However with Rome loving Egan, I doubt it.

The Cardinal should be more worried about these child molesting priests than anything else.

I guess Rudy can go to confession he will
do anything anyway to save face.
I am for abortion rights so it's no
big deal,I thought Egan might be a little
looser on Abortion(which is always a sad
decision for all concerned)as was his predecessor
who once said"that he would not condemn a woman
who had an abortion",I imagine he meant condemn a
woman to hell?" who gave them that power?

Communion?? Here's a guy who wants to drop bombs until 'the cow's come home' on babies..they're mothers..and anyone else that Bush and Cheney sold death to in Iraq, and he's got the nerve to want to be a Christian? Give him a 'vodka on the rocks', and let him go back to the 'No-Tell Motel'..for his next pajama party.

The priest should call in the 'Pink Panther' to have all his priests 'tailed' to see where they end up for those 'quick snack breaks', and at the end of the day.

That is crazy. Many people beleive in a womens right to choose. That does not make them a "bad" catholic. What about the priest who abuses a child. are they allowed to receive?

Why does the Cardinal speak out on an issue that has been considered a 'debatable sin'...then soften his voice on a 'no debate abomination'(child molestation).

So it's ok for Giuliani to put money in the collection basket but not ok to receive holy communion.
Gotta love the logic of the logic of the Catholic Church....

He that is without sin among you, let him cast a stone!
Sharia Law= is the body of Islamic religious law. The term means "way" or "path to the water source"; it is the legal framework within which the public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Islamic principles of jurisprudence and for Muslims living outside the domain.
We are in the U.S. we are not Islamic.

I am a divorced and remarried catholic, I was told by a Priest years ago that if I felt comfortable receiving Communion, it was ok. Egan needs to go! This is a very private matter that he had no right to speak out about. Cardinal Egan has done engough damage to the Church in NY by closing all these catholic schools. Who does he think is going to fill those Churches 50 years from now????

As the bible say Cardinal Egan, Judge not lest yea be judged. A person should not be refused communion because he is divorced. God is the only person who forgives any sins committed. The Catholic church or any Cardinal, Priest, etc.,is not perfect, so get on your knees and pray to God he will forgive you for your sins, and quit judging people, since God is the one and only judger.

It seems to me that Rudy Giuliani is not a catholic in good standing because of his two divorces and two marriages outside the Catholic Church. When I went to religious instruction as a child, I was tsught you have to be a Catholic in good standing to receive Communion. When did the rules change?

When is the Catholic Church going to allow women to be treated as equals instead of someone elses property?

Cardinal Egan should keep his thoughts to himself! How many priest who had sex with young boys and girls gave Communion? How many received Communion? He judges a man over the Pope? Did the Pope say no to him? The Cardinal Egan has a lot different faith then the Pope! With the church as messed up as it is, because non of the Cardinals ever said anything and did all they could to hide all the abuse, He is the one who should not receive the Eucharist! I will never ever go to a catholic church for anything again! The Popes message about the abuse was ok, but with Cardinals like this it is clear you cant trust the clergy! Sorry Pope get rid of the bad before you talk about change and recovery!

Communion is the communon between the reciever and God.AKA Jesus Christ. Cardinal Egan AND the Catholic Church are the vessels that God uses to create this special personal interaction with each person. Eagan and the Catholics, as are all ministers and preists of other Christian faiths, are God's SERVANTS called upon to serve up His sacrament of communion, not to decide who has the right to commune!!!!Christ died for all of us and our sins , not just for whom the catholic church chooses!!!
