New policy to seize laptops at borders

its only a matter of time before they federally mandate having chips installed in every person, the goverment is going overboard with power preying on peoples fears, its a joke.The invasion of privacy will never end because their ( the govt ) reasoning for everything will be terrorism

Is this the same government that has 16 million illegal aliens running around loose in the US? Better be careful because the next time someone blows up a building they might decide to attack Canada. So who exactly came up with this new Homeland Security policy and why? Is this a law? These **** holes can harass law-abiding US citizens to no end but don't have the nads to stand up and defend profiling the people actually committing the acts of terrorism. I guess they are afraid of being accused of discriminating against someone.

So they now can demand that you hand over any and all portable devices, and make up any reason to keep them."reasonable time" doesn't give you any kind of time limit.

I wonder if we would have to fear terrorist if we respected the traditions and culture of other nations instead of imposing our belief system on them? Just because we believe in our nation and the liberties and freedoms it affords us does not mandate the rest of the world has to do the same. Do we have a Constitution left?

I just have to post this one to give you an idea of how diligent and sophisticated our security is.

A person was taking photographs in the airport for business purposes; doing some work at the facility. The security people took the SD card from his camera, said they would look at it and email him what pictures they decided he could have and the card would be returned to him. He received his pictures by email and a week or so later is SD card arrived with all the pictures erased. He put the SD card in a reader, downloaded an unerase program and retrieved all the erased pictures off his SD card.

This is typical government at its finest. You can't explain anything to these idiots because they either don't care or there are 20 levels of incompetence in front of the one person that may be able to do something about it.

Do law enforcement officials have to graduate from high school to qualify for their jobs?

I remember years ago in grade school and high school, we were told that the Communists in Russia were so bad that the government had friends and neighbors spying on each other. Now I'm expected to believe that this type of action is proper for a democracy. Our government can justify anything in the name of security. As Franklin said if you give up freedom for security you will end up with neither security or freedom.

What I find real funny about this whole things is that our government is doing exactly what they accused the Russians of doing back in the 50's. The media here is so censored I'm surprised I know there is an election coming up and it rained this morning.
