Wilson felony charges could be dropped

This whole incident is absolutely horrifying and NEVER should have happened!! All of those involved definitely need to be held accountable... which makes me wonder why the bus driver has not been mentioned.
I'm assuming the bus driver is an adult and ALL of the adults on that bus had the responsibility to protect each and every student. Was the driver not aware that there were students in the aisle (which alone is a safety issue)? Didn't the noise alert the driver to a commotion in the back of the bus? It sure is funny that bus drivers can see who is writing on the back of a seat, but this one was not aware of two students being attacked? It's my understanding that a bus driver is in total charge of each and every person on their bus. Did this driver even suggest to the other adults to see what was going on? Or better yet, why didn't the driver pull over when the commotion first started? If ALL of the adults on that bus were being responsible for those students (as they were suppose to be) this whole thing might not have happened!!!
I feel for the students who were to afraid to stop what was happening and my heart goes out to the victims and their families for having to live this nightmare.

All this concern for the perpetrators of these viscious crimes seems a bit misplaced; what about what the victims of these boys are going to have to go through for the rest of their lives?

The victims didn't ask for what happened to them!!!

This is not a time for the justice system in Niagara County to go wobbly and let these criminals off easy.

I hope the victims sue the hell out of the Wilson Central School District.

I missed alot of this story, where the students that took part in the attacks charged? And with what? I feel so bad for these boys, Ive never heard of initiating by sodomizing. Sad world these days

Prosecutors in Niagara County don't drop charges like this if they have the evidence to prove their case. What happened here? Why were these charges placed initially without a thorough investigation? I am not dismissing that these victims did tolerate hazing of some sort but how did these charges get so out of control in the first place, and now the defendents have to prove their innocence and live with this cloud of suspicion over their heads.

Hm.. I said from the beginning, youthful offender status, 6 mos. comp with dismissal.
Not that I agree with it, charge these idiots as the rapists they are as far as I'm concerned. But, the laws aren't based on what we feel to be right.
Were these boys raped? I think so.
But, it's really all about who has the better lawyer, and what judge you happen to get.

The victims had cellular phones shoved in their rectums and then the offenders thought that it would be funny and decided to call the phones that were lodged inside of the victims. SICK, SICK kids that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, not given the "kids gloves" treatment.

Don't you people pay attention. There was no sodomy! Watch the ESPN story and listen carefully. They did not remove his pants. Watch and see if it all doesn't come down to good old money. No one knows the true story but those involved. Let the court system do their job. If there is no evidence to support the accusations then how can some one be charged for something that didn't happen. I'm sure if it had been one of your kids caught up in an out of control situation all your opinions would be a little bit different. If this is true, what took the Niagara County DA's office four months to come to the possible conclusion that there might not be enough evidence to convict these perpetrators of the more serious charge of Felony Aggravated Sexual Abuse???

I had no idea that medical professionals take four months to determine whether or not a person has been raped!!!:-)

What does that mean here..that boys can shove anything up your butt and slap you crazy and because they have , X AND Y chromosomes..they get a free pass on crime?
I think the lawyer needs sensitivity education...not the fist time he has acted like this was just playful rough housing with no sexual overtones..with future ramifications for everyone involved.
It looks like the lawyer may have had some issues with this behavior in his youth...bet you!

Well, when Wilson Central School taxpayers have to fork over millions to pay the penalty for a well-earned lawsuit, I'm sure Superintendent Wendt's contract won't be renewed. I wonder if he will put that on his resume!!!

Yes, I quite agree, and hopefully the taxpayers of Wilson will rid themselves of the superintendent, the principal, and the school board members; none of those people are protected by disgusting unions, like those negligent teachers are!!!

After all, it is the taxpayers of Wilson who will be footing the bill here for the negligence, stupidity and down-right nauseating closing of ranks to protect one another amongst these employees!!!

"Niagara County District Attorney Michael Violante has downgraded the charges against three Wilson High School students involved in an incident of alleged sexual abuse earlier this year.
The charges stemmed from an incident last April in which three varsity baseball players hazed and sexually assaulted several junior varsity players on a bus ride home from an away game.
The charges were downgraded to misdemeanors because Violante's office did not have sufficient evidence to support the felony charge. Additional misdemeanor and violation charges of hazing were also filed against the defendants.
A press release from Violante's office states that the new charges "MORE ACCURATELY REFLECT THE FACTS AS WE NOW BELIEVE them and will facilitate our prosecution of these chrages." Neither Violante nor his staff were available for further comment."
