I travel to Houston periodically for my job, and as much of a boomtown that it is, I am always grateful when my plane is landing back in Buffalo. I can't think of a better endorsement of our city than that.

i am curious to hear the response from those on the east side of buffalo. i left buffalo more than 20 years ago, and vowed never 2 return 2 live. the city has been dead for many years. sure there's AWESOME food, and the people are great, but there is very little culture, and entertainment, job stability is questionable in the private sector, the public school system is in chaos...so what's so great?

Buffalo is not only a dying city, but Buffalo is a racist city. If you take away the Buffalo Bills and the Sabers, you would have nothing here. I see the reason why Buffalo has lost over 42K people since 2000. This the only city that I have been in that does not take advantage of their waterfront.
Yes this city is Dead

Buffalo's been steadily in it's "death throws" since the 1960's. Just look at the number of jobs LOST since then. Flour Milling, Steel, Automotive etc. All the jobs are in China, India etc. NAFTA was the Final Straw. The 2nd poorest city in the US, urban blight POOR LEADERSHIP, squabbling among politicians etc. It's just a MESS.

I have lived in a few cities in this country and i have to say this is far the worst. This area is dying and if you people dont see it,, it will keep dying because if you dont think something is wrong you cant fix it.Living here is like living in a cave and everyday you dig two feet to get out and there is someone there adding four feet of dirt on you.For example you open an account with a bank and deposit a $40 check you can get that money the next day but deposit a $600 check from the same govt. agency and you have to wait nine bussiness day to use your money that means i deposit a check on july 24th and could not use my money until aug. 6th.And everybody here smiles and act like if thats normal well that was normal in 1970's and 80's but not now.Wake up people this city dont even accept a govt id from any other state as valid for anything .Dying I dont even feel a pulse. This place is already dead.

when i lived in chi-town for 6 months i missed buffalo like hell. then i moved back. needless to say, i have plans to move out again to NYC next year. people in this town know that the pay rate is crap, the taxes are ridiculous, and for what? a casino that is now illegal? a fishing store thats nonexistent? years of squabble over a bridge? we elect these folks and with the exception of higgins and hoyt, they sit around and make gestures but do nothing at all. the politicians unfortunately dont love this town like the people do. and were the ones who suffer.

There really is no 'Plan' for improving Buffalo. The pols dangle single projects and spout ficticious numbers to claim that Project xxxxx (Insert Casino, BassPro, etc etc)will revive Buffalo. I am always amazed that no one seems to sit down with a sharp pencil and examine the figures. They never add up and the tax payer gets screwed, the pol gets his pockets lined.
