Why can't the post office look into hybrid vehicles. Most of their driving is stop and go anyways (the energy created when breaking is what charges the batteries in hybrid vehicles), or (though this one is painful) reduce delivery from six days per week per week. We need to start to make tough decisions as a whole.

They could cut delivery back 1 or 2 days a week.
Most folks don't need to get mail delivered 6 days per week.

VERY simple solution:
Cut down on JUNK mail. Make un-wanted solicitation illegal.

I think Saturday delivery should be eliminated. I wouldnt miss the junk mail and the bills can wait until Monday.

This alone would save the Postal Service millions.

USPS is probably the worst managed organization that wastes our money
and for what?
paper mail in times of 100% of population using emails?
packages when UPS and FedEx can do it?
SO USPS spent 1 billion on flex trucks, right: 30 thousand by $30000 is 1 billion of wasted tax dollars.
And they could not build a single ethanol pump? It could be only explained as a criminal persuit.
I dont believe in such a stupidity been genuine
Ethanol pump or dispenser cost should not be over 10 000.
So it is clear. Clear as a wistle. Some one has to go to jail

s kabod you say the usps is wasting our money the fact is the usps uses its own money so before you say our money you should check your facts. you also say 100% using e-mail my 85 year old mother or none of her friends use e-mail nor does my wife so there goes another bright theory of yours. and as far as ups and fed x with parcels usps is cheeper and they also help deliver parcels for ups. becase its cheeper for ups to have them deliver and their not mandated to deliver to every house or business across the us as is the usps. so you seem to be batting a thousand today, if ignorence was a crime ithink i know who would be going to jail.

I surely agree with this one. However I've noticed that it has diminished a LOT in the last 6 months. I could also do without Saturday mail. The problem with that is, we OLD folks don't look forward to much anymore other than mail delivery! LOL :-)

No easy answers. A great deal of USPS revenue comes from bulk mail, so reducing it reduces income. Daily volumes of mail are always high--Monday's mail is usually even more because of no Sunday deliveries, so ending Saturdays puts too great a load on carriers Mondays. Also, carriers must pick up mail left in customer's mailboxes by 4 or 5 every day--how many will complain when a bill payment they put out Friday at 5:30 doesn't get picked up until 3:00 Monday because of no Saturday service anymore?

Before you say the Post Office gets tax money again you need to check. WE RECEIVE NO TAX MONEY. The only money we get is from stamp sales.

Check again.

post office is not owned by the government, and tax dollars do not pay for flex vehicles and such.

IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE GOOD OL BOYS NO LONGER HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO OPERATE A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO CONCLUDE THAT POTTER, DONOHOE AND ALL THEIR CROONIES HAVENT THE INTELLIGENCE TO SUCCESSFULLY HOLD THEIR CURRENT POSITIONS. BUT THEY SURELY WILL MAKE SURE THEY MAINTAIN THEIR CURRENT LEVEL OF PAY LONG AFTER THEY HAVE RETIRED. THEY WILL LEAVE THE USPS IN WORSE SHAPE THEN THEY RECEIVED IT IN. COULD CONTINUE TO SERVE THE PUBLIC. THOSE AT LEFONT PLAZA DO NOT WORK SATURDAY OR SUNDAY OR FOR THAT MATTER AFTER 12:00 ON FRIDAYS WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE HAVE TO. CLERKS, CARRIERS AND MAIL HANDLERS ARE THE VALUABLE ASSETS IN THIS OPERATION NOT MAMAGEMENT. WHAT OTHER COMPANY HAS A 6-1 RATIO OF MANAGERS TO WORKERS.IF CONGRESS WERE TRUELY INTERESTED IN MAKING THE USPS SUCCESSFUL THEY WOULD STOP LISTENING TO MANAGEMENT AND LISTEN TO THE WORKERS!

The USPS is self sufficient it does not receive funds from the government. If Potter and all of his friends were to be hit with not retirement if or until the USPS was operating in the black again Im sure we would see some action.A business is only as successful as the people who run it in this case the USPS is a sinking ship and Potter and his mates are to blame. I say make them walk the plank.

Make them all walk. My mailman could stand to loose about 50 lbs.
