There's much more to be had robbing and drug dealing - just look at many of the high-end vehicles these po' folks are driving around in. As far as employers go, who would want to hire these idiots, and why should they be compelled to? What exactly are they going to bring to the "organizational table?" Should society classify them a rocket scientists and pay them $100,000. per year just to keep them from doing "bad" things? Whenever there is some especially bad outbreak of violence, on the mean streets of Buffalo, some "leader" will talk about the need for "jobs," as though this is the sole reason why the "incident" happened in the first place. No, a good many of the gang bangers love what they do and are very "good" at it - until the organizational shake-up happens and they are "replaced." You want hope? Then show promise!!

They have jobs - drug dealing and robbery. You think they are going to give that up to work at Burger King?

I guarantee you that they will not enforce it in the hood. They are too afraid of being called racists for makeing nocturnal animals go indoors at night.

the convention center would be a great place to bring, (now don't get me wrong) the parent's and grandparent's (because they leave grandparents out of everything and the grandparents are usually the one raising the child/children)of all that have had a love one killed by violence. No other children are to attend unless the elder needs assistance. This helps one another face each other on the same level of grief. It will help the parent to go back home and teach the other teens to get off the street's. Turn the event into a memorial, bring the dead love ones picture with you. Let people express ideal's and thoughts. Can you imagine how many people have been shot down in the street's since the beginning of the nineties. They will also tell their other living relatives, to stop the violence, no retaliating someones death. Yes, we have to see how many elder's will participate, then you will know how many other adult's don't care....Ps. Back in the days they had a place called the PAL (Police Athletic Leaque) it was a teaching and recreational place for children to go, learn, play, something to keep them from being bored. I say open some of these old buildings and turn them into recreational facilities and we will have half the innocent children off the street.

yeah right lets throw more money at a JOBS program and train them for jobs that dont exist in this area anyway .lets pass a law unemployed for more than a year? then whatever skill you have take it to another state where they have one for you .New Yorkers should be sick of out of state relocations here for good benefits

I don't think that these times will do anything. I think that if it were 10 to 5 am, then these children will really understand discipline and realize how serious this is. If the children are caught after curfew, then the parents should be fined, with real consequences for non-payment. Then maybe the parents will start taking responsibility for their kids.

it all boils down to stopping the big dawgs (leaders) from giving those in the hood drugs to sell in the first place, a monster was created by people trying to keep us in our hood but lol. This whole gangbanging situation could actually be handled and stopped but since the minorities are killing themselves and staying in their hoods not going anywhere well, then maybe no one else would be bothered. Not saying it's a conspiracy but look at it hard and you tell me what it is. No offense but why not move the trouble makers elsewhere and keep the good citizens around to live peacefully, i myself being black and in the city am tired of other certain city folks ruining it for us other ones.

How dare you compare crimes, as if a blk life isn't worth saving.You need to attend a funeral and hear the cries of the Mothers of these young children. Are you a mother? If so,imagine worrying every time your child leave the house,not knowing if you will ever see them again. If you're not one,I hope you never become one. Yes, majority of the people that get blamed are black. That does give black people a bad reputation.
The problem is, is that it is generally the black kids we find out to be the shooters, etc. of crimes.
So what is society supposed to think?

I'm not the one needing help. My children are top of their class,paying for college with money they get from an honest job, and they are not killing off their friends. this dosen't happen in my "HOOD". because we are educated parents(yes a mom and a dad, married). Who instill values in our children. That is not happening on the east side.that's just the facts.
