Rule number one for the VP: Do no harm... People vote for president not VP...
Rule number one in public relations: Get your side of the story out first.... This news was broke by some left wing internet site ... Bad move by the McCain camp, unless he didn't know, Palin didn't know or Palin didn't tell him... Either way, I'm on the fence, this looks sloppy at best and it doesn't make me feel too confident about this ticket's ability to govern... |

Yea right.............

I think Barack is right, nominees of any should not be brouht into the Gov. life of work. It really have nothing to do with the job.it off-limits. Votes for the person and not their family.

.....normal person?! The rumors are saying that her 4 month old child is actually her daughters. That doesn't sound to normal to me. |

Ifeel what goes on in Sarah's family is no ones biusiness and has nothing to do with the job she will do inthe whitehouse. also if it were someone else's daughter who is 5 month pregnant, you know darn well it would not be plastered all over the news. this is just another way to start problems and dig up dirt to make people look bad, etc. it is not for us to judge people but for God to watch out and over them.if God didnt judge us what right do we have to judge someone else. I wish Sarah all the luck in the world and her daughter and soon to be grandchild. May God bless them all.
The media has to nip it in the butt now and stop with the reportings of trash and vicious rumors. what goes around comes around |

I wrote my comments about McClaining chosing Sarah the other day. What ever happened to that comment. before writing another,i would like to see that one on this page. with the others. thanks.

It would seem as if Mrs Palin didn't practice what she preaches. Although the child will not be aborted and the boyfriend will mary her, she should have kept CLOSER supervision on her children. Persuing a career instead of supervising/disciplining and keepin a "watchful eye", even in Alaska, on your children is paramount. Maybe she was "too concerned" with her B-in-law's situation. Maybe she should re-evaluate her ethics and family values and how they can be "improved" before she could possibly become 2nd in command in the governance of a nation. Heck, With McCain's age, she could even wind up 1st in command.

Silver Stag, Have you ever had teen-aged kids? Trust me, you CANT keep an eye on them every second. My mom couldn't keep an eye on me every minute, I couldn't keep an eye on my daughter every minute. Guess what? My daughter is going through what we went through. It isn't easy. However, I do know some things that are easy, providing advice on how other people should run their lives or raise their children. Bill Clinton had the right idea years ago....keep the kids out of it. Too bad that only applies to Democrats and not Republicans. The Commie |

Is all this negative campaigning really doing our country any justice. Every family has "issues",lets focus on what she is saying to help our country.

People are not attacking Palin's daughter, they are rightly pointing out the hypocrisy of a Republican establishment that has advanced the politics of character assassination and undermined the Freedom of Religion in pursuit of power. The internet should be replete with apologies from Republicans for supporting right-wing media and party wackos who bludgeon and litmus test fellow Americans with some Biblical passages when politically expedient, while not doing so with other passages like those on fidelity, fornication, shell fish, swine, and indentured servitude. Christian Fundamentalists in the Republican Party and Media that want to impose their particular religious interpretations on others can't have it both ways:
Either, a pregnancy is a personal matter SEPARATE from government (as most open minded freedom loving Americans argue), or it isn't. Christian Fundamentalists want to impose non-medical/religious-only beliefs on people outside of their church in a nation where your pledge of allegiance means you swear not to do that. By advocating the enforcement of her spirituality into law, Palin invited us to do something we shouldn't have to: to examine the consequences of the imposition of Palin's religious beliefs on those of us who don't share them. Hypocrites deserve worse than being put in front of a mirror that reflects the "family values"/"I'm more Christian than you" that were used to distract the nation from a rational and substantiated discussion on issues that are most deserving of our attention. Christ was the first to advocate a separation of church and state when he declared "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" (Matthew 22:21, see also John 18:36). Don't you dare use him to hide your lack of integrity, self-reflection, and moral courage. Not even someone who Christian Fundamentalists believe is fit to run the country and pick Supreme Court justices; who embodies their "Christian Values"; is able to keep her adolescent daughter abstinent. If you don't want people to look at how well the politics that puts "abstinence-only education" ahead of adolescent welfare worked out for your daughter, do us all a favor, mind your own business and remember your oath to uphold the Constitution means real American patriots would sooner die than allow their or anyone else's religious-only beliefs to be forced onto others. |

"The media has to nip it in the butt now"
LOL. "Nip this in the butt." Must be a new family values term the wingnuts came up with. It's hard to keep up with the clown brigade. |

RE: thenycommie's response
No, you can't keep your eye on your children every moment of the day, however; proper attention from BOTH parents will lessen the chances of their "straying" from an appropriate path. Give too much "freedom" and you increase the chances of straying 10fold. Proper disciplining and responsibility is the best one can do. After that, with the proper ethical training, you can only HOPE FOR THE BEST! |

I bet Palin's daughter was ate before she was 9.

You hit the nail on the head guy! You do your best and hope for the best. At the end of the day the kid is gonna do what the kid is gonna do. I don't about you but except for the grace of God, my daughter could have come home at 17 with a bun in the oven. |
