Unruly football fans

The NFL is now cracking down on rowdy football fans. Bills fans are generally good-natured. But every year we seem to see spectators who get a little out of hand, especially at games.

It really is quite amazing, though we shouldn't be surprised, how far American society has sunk in the past four decades, since the secular-humanist, liberal, God-rejecting 1960's.

Now it has even become necessary for a "Fan Code of Conduct" because people have lost all restraint, morality and decency.

I know that I will never go to a Bills game again because the fans are to rowdy and disrespectful of others around them. If they want to drink as much as I've seen people drink then why don't they stay home and save themselves the cost of the ticket for the game. I went to one game years ago on a Monday night and accidently bumped into this guy's girlfriend and he went ballistic on me throwing me to the ground and threatening to punch me. I immediatly apologized and said it was an accident, but this guy was such an insecure jerk because he thought I was trying to make a move on his girlfriend. I will never attend another Bills game again because the Bills don't really do anything to curb the drinking and violence that goes on during these games. Another time I went to a preseason game and 3-4 men went after this old man in the parking lot knocking him to the ground. They had hurt this man and myself and my cousin stopped the guy from further hurting this older man. Even after that they came back in a few minutes and decided that he hadn't had enough and decided to smash him up against the front of the bus we came on. Of course there were no security people to be found in the parking lot!! It is sad that people can't go to a football game and enjoy the game with their friends and/or family. My wife and I much rather stay home and watch the games in the comfort & safety of our home versus going to a stadium where we don't feel safe. Besides, we can makes snacks and have a beer or pop and not pay the outrageous prices at these games, not to mention the long wait to go to the bathroom when one has to. Besides, were not Bills fans and we at least have the option of watching the other teams of the NFL versus watching the Bills who will never win a Super Bowl period.

Exactly! What happened to people's values? There is no respect for each other anymore and the world we live in today just sickens me sometimes.

You are so right MWNN, I firmly believe that people go to the Bills games to get smashed, puke, drink some more and then pass out. The last game I went to was in 1997 and it will be the last. I can get my 18 holes in on Sunday mornings, get home at 1:00 and watch the game for free in the comfort of my home. Who wants to spend 9 hours battling traffic, paying ridiculous parking fees, outrageous concession prices and then get abused by the "fans" of today? I will support the Sabres but the Bills organization has lost me from going to the games.

The problem with drunks and unruly fans starts in the parking lot. As a season ticket holder I have to walk around people who are vomiting while waiting in line for a security check to enter the stadium. The security personnel and ticket takers should have the authority to deny entry to any individual who appears intoxicated or under the influence of drugs

They should also have a code of conduct for the players as well. There's no need to drive away from an accident unless, we'll say, you were drunk. Just like more than half of the fans watching you. Any normal person would have gotten more than just a slap on the wrist. Even from the NFL!!! No code of conduct there!! Just the reason I don't support any sports with a ball.

They're worried about creating a family atmosphere when most families can't afford to go to games. The unruly fans are what makes going to games such a great experience. Same old story from the No Fun League.

Man with no name....you are so right! Now we have to deal with this type of behavior at high school and younger football games. Maybe without the drinking, but that aggressive attitude from parents.

I totally agree with your last statement. Security should be available to remove these individuals and the ticket-takers should use walkie-talkies to communicate if they see someone who needs to be removed. Parents with children DO NOT need to subject their families to these idiots.

Buffalo, NY - Be prepared for some changes Buffalo Bills fans, and not just with the coaches walking the sidelines.

This week, the Buffalo Bills organization will begin mailing season ticket holders and running ads in newspapers across the state, the new game day policy which covers everything from tailgating rules to the attire you can and can't wear inside the stadium.

Gone are the days of fans sitting outside the stadium getting inebriated and coming into the stadium causing trouble. According to Bills officials, State Troopers will be stationed at random gate entrances and if they, or the gate workers, suspect you of drinking, you will be asked to take a breathalyzer test.

If you blow more than a 0.08%, you will be asked to leave the stadium, and if you are a season ticket holder, your tickets will be revoked and you will not be able to renew them.

"We sat down and looked at most of the problems we have inside the stadium on game days, and 80% of them are alcohol related. We understand that some people are going to drink a little, but we are not going to tolerate drunkenness inside our stadium any longer" said one Bills official.

Eddie Kines, a West Seneca resident, has been coming to Buffalo Bills football games for 40 years. Over the last 15 years, he has been a strong advocate for these changes. "I remember when Coach Saban was here; our fans didn't act this way. We came to the games, sure, we might drink one or two cold ones before hand, but we didn't get drunk, and we certainly didn't cause problems in the stadium. We just liked to come in, watch some good football and contribute to the atmosphere. That is Bills football.”

“Our football team played with class and our fans cheered with class. Once he left, it was like he took our class with him - we stopped acting like champions, and I think that has hurt the football team, too.

“I took my grandson to the Buffalo Bills game a couple of years ago and I was truly embarrassed. It was like I had taken him to a race at Talladega rather than a Bills football game".

Among the many changes, the one that may cause the most problems is Buffalo's new policy pertaining to what you cannot wear into the stadium.

"It's not a 'dress code', per se. We will just not allow a few certain articles of clothing into the stadium. We have had numerous complaints about obscenity in the stadium, and most of the time, it's directly related to what some fans are wearing" said one Bills official. Some articles of clothing that will no longer be allowed into the stadium:

• Tank tops or shirts with the sleeves cut out

• Halter tops and cut-off t-shirts

• Cut-off blue jean shorts

• Jerseys worn into the stadium must be Nike

• Attire with vulgarity or obscene photographs

• Shoes must be worn at all times

"We are not asking for much. We just want Buffalo football games to be family oriented, and at this time, we don't think that is the case" said one NFL official.

While these changes may come as a shock to some Bills fans, Kines says they are a long time coming.

"This has been a long battle, but if I can finally take my grandson to a game and he can see what Buffalo football is really about, it was all worth it."

The big problem is that the taxpayers of Erie County provide a discount of $60.00 per ticket so that the FANS have to pay only $90, if a seat really costs $150.00 let them pay $150.00 see how many people go then.
Didn't the EC Clerk figure out that the county saved $750.000.00 for every game the bills played in TO?

I can't believe that anyone can actually believe this drivel.
Consider the social costs of republican policies that force 2 wage earners per household to make ends meet. People are 'maxed out',and do not spend an appropriate amount of time with their kids. Families are in serious debt.Parents have to work harder than ever just to survive. It's no wonder that American society has an epidemic of drug addicts, alcoholics, and wife beaters.
Hypocrite morons who take a holier than thou attitude while smugly hide behind the Bible should take a long, hard look at themselves before they judge others.
Oh,and by the way......Liberals love God as much as anyone else. Please don't let the fascists at Faux News and that pillhead Ru$h Limbaugh form your opinions for you......
