you people have no sympathy. So what if they were doing what they were doing... leave that to your self. If you have nothing good to say than dont say anything at all wow!!!!! You people seriosly i know the young boy.
YOUR post saying so what if they were doing what they were doing really shows how ignorant you must be it seem like you ignore raising your children with common sense thats if you have children most likely the own you not the other way

again tracks have lights and bells for a reason. my condolances to the family and friends but this kid was where he didnt belong. Its terribly sad to hear this happend but they should not have been playin on the tracks! No Excuses. If you play on train tracks your gonna get what you deserve one day. And this proves that exactly. young, dumb and playin on railroad tracks. and if you stand at the gate when a train passes you see how big they are.**** would make you want to play chicken or even try to cross the tracks when a train is coming. there are so many other way to die then playin on train tracks. but kids do it.

R.I.P young man.

Not sure I am totally in agreement with your statement describing the complete over-sensitivity of the laws towards the children. And I am not talking about discipline ONLY. If you raise them with no responsibility, they turn into delinquents. This may sound corny, but your kid is a blank slate. And besides some minor influence from his friends and the outside world, the parent makes the most impact in a kids life.
I still live in New york I like the way the person with no name put that. Even though I'm still a teen who had conflicts with the state I'm not dead.

Did the train derail off the tracks and hit the kid? NO!!! The train was on the tracks and the kid was too, the way I see it the train just weeded out the gene pool. Hopefully this kid didn't have the chance to reproduce before this occured!
Obviously this idiot that wrote this comment about Gene pool...does'nt have kids or a heart!...I guess God forgot to give u one !!!!!!!!!

Thanks, and I'm glad you are still alive, with the chance to continue to learn and grow as a person.

This is not the first time there has been someone killed on this crossing. If someone checked back, I know of at least three other times this crossing has been a deadly one and they still do not put gates up. This is an extremely small community but it still should be taken care of. My sympathy to the family of this young man!

The kid was playing on the tracks with his buddlies like they always do. He got dared to run across the tracks and he's the kind to do that crap. This time he wasn't so lucky. I see kids playing the same dumb games right on main street playing "chicken" with cars and others on state street who lay in the road daring cars to stop. How in the hell are parents raising their kids?

I am a parent and I teach my kids right from wrong but that doesn't always mean they will follow that when they are with their friends. You can't be with your kids 24/7 watching over them and every little thing they do. So some of you are trying to say you are PERFECT and NEVER did anything as a kid/teen that was really stupid? I can't believe some people are so ignorant! This was a terrible accident and nobody really knows what happened that night except god and the others that were right there. It is so easy to always place blame but we do not have that right to place blame or judge anyone. God decided it was Kenny's time to go because he has other plans for him. My deepest sympathies and my prayers go out to the family in their time of need. God Bless!!!!

It's a shame that some of Ripley's adults don't play on the tracks too.

Anybody else wonder why a 16 year-old out after sunset, which puts the time of the accident well after 8:45 at night, is hit by a train AT ALL. Why is he allowed out, on a school night after dark.

Period.

Having gates or a fence around tracks would not have stopped this tragedy. But a good set of parents would have. I hate to point that out because it seems very insensitive right now, given what they are going through. But it is soley on them.

The mother is a real winner. Her black boyfriend is in jail for raping a 14 year old girl and he's got a history of chasing people around with a samauri sword. All her kids run around wild and mostly unsupervised. This kid was a product of his non-upbringing.

..it doesnt matter who the mom dated. i know kenny's family perfectly well. so what if the mom made a few mistakes, EVERYBODY DOES.! and no not all of her kids run around wild. you shouldnt say something like that if u didnt really know the story.THATS WRONG.you should be more mature than that.

-->no we dont always play on the tracks. and no he definately didnt get dared to run across them. me and my three other friends that were with him all ran across and we made it(THANK GOD), but unfortunately he didnt. and i wish he would have. and no we dont lay out in the middle of the road for cars to stop. we dont do that. AND HOW DO YOU KNOW IF HE WAS THE KIND TO DO THAT. YOU KNEW NOTHING ABOUT HIM..NOBODY REALLY KNEW EXCEPT ME AND SOME OTHER OF HIS FRIENDS. if you don't know the truth then dont say anything at all. that goes for everybody who thinks they can just say something like that. i was one of the kids there i knew exactly what happend.

they dont run around wild. Kenny was a good kid. He was like a brother to me. He was the best friend i could ever have you pick on me you would of had to go throw him. He sticks up 4 people no mader what color. And dont bring his mom in. She was stuke working late so she can make more money.
So dont talk about people if you dont know them and also don't say crap if you don't know him or his family and friends i was 1 so there try saying something about me if you want to say something about him........
