If Tim Howard has no idea how to cut cost get him out of his position. that Dept is so lazy all they wanbt is overtime there would be no need for it if the officers did some work, when the camera's are off.

Overtime is like cocaine, once you get a little, you just keep wanting more. And, no matter who tells you, of course you don't have a problem! Just let me and my cohorts figure out how to get more. The Holding Center is full of sounds, smells and mostly scumbags. See for yourself, they give tours. To have anyone work more than 64 hours a week in that facility is rescipe for trouble. The outlay by Erie county to hire new deputies will in the long run be a savings just in the matter of litigation againt the Holding Center and paying expert witnesses, doctors, employees, and county attorneys to represent at trial and eventually make the payouts in civil suits against the overworked deputies. Newly hired employees will spend their money in WNY buying houses, cars and other necessities(they will only know of the stories of the old days when OT ran rampant); overtime money is "extra" and is spent elsewhere on vacations, condos, and casinos. The sheriff is right - create some jobs and keep our young people working here.

Let's face it-
The criminals aren't going away- a report on NBC this evening stated the crime rate is not decreasing- the sentences are tougher. 1 in 100 Americans are incarcerated!
So here's a proposal for those who do nothing but complain about those "lazy sheriffs":
1. hire more deputies to keep the overtime costs minimal and the deputies fresh
2. let the current level of sheriffs remain the same, and hopefully no serious and life-threatening mistakes will be made by those who are exhausted by being mandated to work endless hours of overtime
3. or-perhaps the biggest complainers will agree:
stop prosecuting the criminals,close the jails down and bus the criminals to Williamsville!

Clearly you have no idea how a jail is run. Overtime does not depend on how much work someone does, it depends on how many positions the state has mandated are filled. If you need 60 slots filled, then 60 deputies must fill those slots. You can't fill the slots with 30 hard workers. It's common sense.

Can anyone name one good thing (and of course I realize negative pub gets the ratings), and I mean ANYTHING, Tim and Co. has accomplished? I will answer for you. No. There is nothing. Vote for John Glascott. Naysayers, please don't make me whip out my list of Tim Howard screw-ups.
