Bloody8Vet and Laura; hold your condemnations. Time will tell if this was a BIG MISTAKE or not. Watching this past play-offs I couldn't believe we got rid of Martin Biron. That guy showed GENIUS in net.. He appeared (to me) to effortlessly stop impossible shots. But when we got rid of him, no one cried 'big mistake'.
What I've seen from Miller isn't "elite" at all, But I'm sure no one is naive enough to think he would be a weak link in a Stanley Cup run...
For a team with the type of talent the Sabres have they would require an "Elite" goalie to make a decent Stanley Cup run.

Defense wins championships. A great defense will make an average goalie look great. We need a little more help on the defensive end of the rink to win a cup. Miller is good enough and worth the money they pay him. He is not making elite goalie money so dont compare him to the elite goalies.

Other goalies played just as much or ,ore then Miller did and took their teams farther has better gaas and save percetages dont use fatigue as an excuse for his bad playing. If that was the case they should have never have traded Marty Biron who is clearly the better goalie anyway

They traded Biron befor the start of 07 08 and our back up should have been better but dident work out at all so Miller had to try to do it all on his own. Biron did the same thing last year miller did twice the years befor. What kind of butt nuts live in a city and go on a site to **** about it.

I don't think Miller ever played as well as Marty. When Miller was out injured a couple of years ago Marty won 13 games in a row how often has Miller done that. And if the back up goalie didn.t work out thats managements fault again. Miller just sucks and its not the city i **** about its the goaltender.

Miller had just as good of a cup run in 06 and 07 as Marty did in 08 and he wouldent have done as well if he had to play 76 games like miller did in 08. The back up was a veterin that most people would have thought could work but dident and if thats the managements fault it has nothing to do with miller being a bad goalie. The only other person that played that much in net was Bro dush and they got out in the first round anyway and he is the only goalie that can even pull that off.

Youre right he would have done better than Miller And Brodeur if thats who you are referring to is not the only one who played as much as miller so did the Nabokov of ans jose he played 75 games had a 2.14 gaa and a.910 save percentge and took them into the playoffs deeper than Nj but at least Brodeur gave Nj a chance If Miller was that tired he would have gone out int the first round too but he couldn't even get them there. Not saying the rest of the team is good they are not but the bottom line is you need that goaltender who can stand on his head night in and night out and Miller is just not it.

This contract will make Miller the 4th highest paid Goalie in the NHL. If anybody out there thinks he is the 4th best goalie in the NHL your nuts. Maybe someday he might be but not now. He's lucky if he could stop a basketball from the blueline! Needs an eye exam for sure.

There are goalies with more grit then miller sure but him not having to play as many games he can be better then thows with that rare grit and stamina and marty dosent have it ether. Teams that win the cup dont use goalies that need to stand on there head ie detroit, Anaheim, carolina they all even used different goalies at some point in those playoffs. As for the rest of the team citys have won cups with half the amount of offensive power. D is what they need and Rivet was a great addtion.

I agree with the idea defence but with the sabers defence everytime they went defence they got a penalty then the other team scored that isnt good defence the offence had to work harder to make it up SABERS defence suckes

The sabres d dident really get many penaltys. They need some tuff d d making key littel plays to let them have more 2 to 1 or 1 to 0 wins.

Well we'll just see what team is in the playoffs at the end of the year and which team isn't. And which goalie has all the better stats. good enough.

OK, here's a list of guys I'd take before him: Nabokov, Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Lundquist, Giguere, Luongo, Turco, Price, and maybe Dipietro so that puts Miller 10th. He's on par with an Osgood, Huet, Ward, Backstrom, Gerber, Brzgalov, who are all 2nd tier goalies. We'll have a better idea of where he falls with a capable backup this year in Lalime.
