You know, we don't have much left here in Buffalo as far as big business goes. The unions are in place to protect our hard working people just trying to make a living. The economy is crappy, so where would these people go if they lost their jobs, or had to pay higher premiums for health insurance? It is so hard to find a decent paying job nowadays with any kind of decent benefits. Our taxes are highest in the country, gas is ridiculous. These are hardworking people - give them what they deserve!!

Verizon employees are skilled at what they do, and deserve the money and benefits they are fighting to keep. Their jobs are not easy and extremely stressful. They have to periodically leave home and go to schools to be kept up to date on new tehnology for sometimes weeks or months at a time, leaving their families behind. I know, my husband was stuck on the thruway during the blizzard of "77 trying to come back from one of those schools, and had to wait an extra week, sleeping in the hall of some hotel that was full of stranded people. They can get bumped from office to office, over their work life with the company. The stress can be unimaginable. Unless you have walked in their shoes, don't criticize. If they wanted to make less money and benefits, there are alot less stressful jobs they could apply for. When you are skilled, you make more money, that's life, and they should not have to fight to keep what they have earned, from a company that is making billions, and paying their CEOs megabucks with free medical for life. It's the WORKERS who make Verizon successful. Just try and do without them for longer than a few weeks and see how much service you get! Without them, Verizon would sink like a stone!

Verizon claims service wouldn't be interupted if there was a strike?? Good luck to those who do lose phone service-you will have people who normally work desk jobs climbing poles.

I hope that you all loose your jobs, while I was on strike at AAM there were verizion workers driving by flipping us off. so I hope you loose everything like we did,**** on you! and I hope they offer you a severance that is $100 for every year worked. Greedy bastards, everyone has to pay for health care what makes you think your better than anyone else????? The time of the union has come and gone. Maybe your union will bury there heads in the sand like the UAW did.

Sorry that you had to lose your benefits buddy, but we are talking a VERY big company, making billions of dollars on the expertice of their workers. There is no chance of Verizon going belly up. Workers have been paying more every contract for their medical benefits. They are NOT greedy. Just because you had to lose out, you want everyone else to be as miserable. well, I feel sorry for you in more ways than one. Wait till your phone service craps out if they go on strike, then we'll see how bitter you are.
