Pit bull attacks Cheektowaga toddler

i feel so sorry for the family. i hope everything works out for the little girl

This is terrible. The dog's owner should be required to find the dog and give it to Animal Control. He should also be required to at least help with the child's medical expenses!

That scumbag is hiding something. I would haul him into court and compel him to produce the dog under threat of contempt if he fails to comply. Then if he still holds out, LOCK HIM UP until he reveals the whereabouts of the dog.

The amount of pit bull attacks have been increasing. There should be a law that outlaws them all together

I'm a 27yr old Mother with a little girl I could not imagine that, I would have nightmares for the rest of my life…

my yellow lab was attacked in my backyard by a pit bull on April 22,2008 and i have three children, thank god they weren't back there. Was the most horrifying thing i have ever seen and the dog is still in my neighborhood. How do we get it out of out neighborhood. Any suggestions?

Give the pit bull an antifreeze hotdog. He won't be around the neighborhood for long.

CALL the SPCA & file a complaint EITHER that or get a shotgun lol seriously the SPCA is the most legal way & tell them if they dont try you will sue them for not doing thier job

You only face legal ramifications if you are caught. It's illegal to let a pit bull run wild and attack other's dogs but it happened.

There's plenty of over-the-counter medications that can be used to safely and anonymously euthanize the pit bull in this case. I am an expert on taking care of nuisance dogs in neighborhoods.

What ever happened to this case? Did the owner ever produce the dog for tests? Or did he cower and hide like the girly-man white-trash that he appeaed to be?

i agree 100% people assume ALOT when it comes to bullys. it is how the dog is raised. and these dogs get all the bad press because Ignorant people fight them so people think they are all alike. i guess people assume about the breed as they assmue about everything else.

its called BSL....and its Wrong ALL owners should take responsibility for there animals. thats just common sense, but to pick oput a specific breed is not a good idea. these dogs are popular with fighting thats why they get all the bad press and feeling towards them. if they were fighting mastiffs they would have the same rap, but please do some research befor you make a statment like that. there are responsible bully owners. i am one of them. dont outlaw a specific breed due to an ignorant owner.

Julie - it's not just ignorant owners - people really believe that "bully" breeds are killers - because that is how the media portrays them. You never hear in the news about a lab or golden attacking anyone - and yet they do! Come on media - do your job!

you are correct, but it is the media they will exploit anyone or anything. i just wish people could see the animals that are owned by responsible people. it just really breaks my heart to see these dogs getting treated like this then the rest get the flack.

2006 statistics regarding pit bulls:

they account for 65% of all serial attacks on humans..more than one dog at a time.
592 fatal pit bull attacks on children under the age 12
280 non fatal attacks on children under the age of 12
222 adults attacked
321 people maimed or disfigured.
Rotts are the second in line after the pit bull.
scary numbers huh???? overbreeding will do that.
OH and yes before anyone comments. I work for an attorney who does dog bites...i am very familiar with statistics if you need them.

and the statistics are this high because of the ignorant owners and the idiots that fight them if they werent being faught this wouldnt be happening lets focus on 1st that the people are ok. 2nd that we need to be more aggresive and go after the people who fight them.....its still not the dogs fault. the owners are responsible.
