First responders not allowed inside Wende Correctional Facility...

Nothing new, this happened when I was a medic back in the '80's. We were called to a shooting and some first responders had started CPR. The police officer not only would not allow me in to help, but denied us transporting the victim to the hospital! So the good officer basically pronounced her dead. Remember people the "poeleese" are always in charge. If anyone doubts that, just look at who has the guns.

And if you look up his prison records (http://nysdocslookup.docs.sta te.ny.us/kinqw00) he had multiple felony convictions.

first of all thank god that he is dead. second of all he was treated by medical staff, there is a registered nurse on duty at all times. Does this first responder know about his past drug use?? crack will weaken the heart and cause a heart attack in a young person.

Dwight Maddox is a convicted criminal, a felon. If he didn't commit the crime in the first place he'd be on the outside and able to get medical treatment. So the lesson here folks is "If you can't do the time don't commit the crime." Maddox obviously couldn't do the time. Poor felon. Thanks, my taxes should go down a little now.

I can Understand it being a Security Issue. But isn't that why God invented a Portable radio?

I find it hard to believe that a 911 call was made from the facility and that the person making the call would call 911 without notifying guards about it. Obviously, if the call was made, you have to notify guards, who are responsible for keeping the PRISON (yes, it's a prison, not a public place) secure. I think the only thing this investigation will find is that whoever called 911 without notifying PRISON guards - is an incompetent bonehead. Even a civilian could figure that one out.

good thing he died, he was a scumbag... i work on an ambulance that goes there frequently.. after we pick up the inmate and get him outside and into the back of the ambulance, we then have to go to the front of the prison and wait for a 2nd guard to go in and sign out and pick up his weapon... u can't leave untill you have one guard on board with u on the ambulance and a 2nd guard following behind in a state van... sometimes when the guard goes into the front (while the patient is in the back of our ambulance) it will take sumtimes another 10-15 minutes for them to come out from the front... i lost count on the number of times i sit with a dying prisoner in the back of my ambulance with us just sitting there in front of the prison parked, not going to the hospital yet, and waiting for the guard to come out to give us permission to leave.... i had a few die on me right there in that spot in the front, while waiting... i always laughed, its funny, the guards dont care about them and honestly, neither do i, and neither should to many other people, unless its ur family in there, or they were wrongfully convicted like capozzi and dejac.... a large majority of the prisioners there are very bad people and should be on earth, they r nothing but a waste, so let some of them die once in a while... cheaper taxes... and i like what david duke said... He was ALREADY dead when they found him. We don't know how long he was down before he was discovered. The medical staff insde Wende rendered care (CPR & Defib.) for several minutes before the FireDept. showed up. The Fire Dept. would have rendered the same care until the Medics showed up. By that time, even if the Fire Dept was immediately allowed access, he was DRT (Dead Right There). Being a former medic, it sounds like he would have been pronounced at the scene anyway. Security at a maximum security prison is #1 and I thank all the corrections officers for that.Another menace to society gone.

yes i am a bleeding heart, a life is a life if it was your brother or father maybe it would make ya'll feel different.

i do not believe in jail at all but if someone is in the custody of the government they should be affforded the same right as its citizens for care...did he have medicaid???

The prison's medical staff was already performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automatic defibrillator.Is this the only news this Luke Moretti can dig up? i completely agree with u man!! what is more important... the security of the entire maxiumum security prison, saying that meaning, safety for both the guards and everybody in western new york and farther... or one dead prisoner?

Doofy nurse called Rural Metro 4 ambulance, then also calls "911" for same. 911 calls local fire dept to respond. Convict all the meanwhile is already receiving nearly instant top of the line emerg care for cardio failure. General public would have been long DOA in their home, criminal had the greatest chance of survival had it not been for the poor condition of his vital organs from lifestyle of abuses. Cellar saver & his team may have been delayed for 45 seconds - made absolutely no difference. Chief has an axe to grind and Moron-etti is the chump who will jump at anything he can portray as sensational. Remember that "no one investigates like channel 4". Get the facts first, preferably from both sides Luke, or get off the air.

this is ridiculous. these guard need to seriously be evaluated. incarcerated or not, every human deserves his or her right to medical treatment when needed

If an investigation or lawsuit is filed, again a waste of taxpayer money.
I would rather err on the side of caution than have a violent felon on the loose.
